Subject: I Hate the New Marketplace

egaeus ( ) posted Thu, 26 January 2006 at 6:46 PM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 8:36 AM

Okay, I've tried looking for products in the newly formatted Renderosity Marketplace and can now say I officially hate the changes. Whereas before I was able to search by specific Poser models, I can now find almost nothing pertaining to the products I'm most interested in. This will deter me from purchasing from the Marketplace in the future, since Renderosity has made it almost impossible to locate anything. Mike

I too dislike the new Marketplace. The lack of reviews is the main thing, but the links to store pages in a user's profile being broken is a pain too.

I'm no big fan of it either, although I must say it is faster.

I'm not a fan either, but it's obvious it's here to stay and they aren't going to revert back to the way it was. All you can do is go to that link and post what you would like to see readded.

I guess the only positive thing I can say about it too is that it is faster, but what the he**, I would much ratherly had it a bit slower and kept the store as it was. If I do a serch for a word in the search area, it come up with about nothing as it did before. And my purchase history with about 500 items is a big mess, I can't find anything there anymore. I have said to myself that I will not buy stuff here again until it is more user friendly..so I hope I can keep that promise ;) The last days I've searched and shopped at poserpros, daz, rnda and 3dcommune instead.

gellenburg ( ) posted Thu, 26 January 2006 at 7:32 PM

I have to agree. The new Marketplace blows. And I don't mean in a good way! I hate it partly because navigation is on the right instead of the left. The past few weeks I, too, have purchased from CP, Daz, and Runtime DNA as opposed to here.

pzrite ( ) posted Thu, 26 January 2006 at 8:32 PM

I hate it for all the reasons listed above, but especially because it shows yet another example of Renderosity not listening to it's customers and merchants. It doesn't surprise me, but it does make me long for the "good old days" when the art became before business.

BastBlack ( ) posted Thu, 26 January 2006 at 8:59 PM · edited Thu, 26 January 2006 at 9:01 PM

There are many things I don't like about the Marketplace:

It's harder to find things.

Customer review were removed!

"Ratings" gives top scores to very old stuff for Dork and Posette, not even as good the new stuff for M3 and V3.

No more, "What Other Customer Bought" or "Other Products by.."

No easy to navigate sections at the bottem of page like:
Poser V3 Hair

Why they changed what was the best Poser Store, imho, is beyond me.

Some nice things I can say about it:
the product pages cleaner and are easier to read. Sometimes there are pages with unreadable copy. A good example Jose for M3. Great product, but couldn't read a word on that page.
My wishlist looks smaller than it did. ;)

I don't like it, either. And I was REALLY unhappy to log in to find my wishlist and cart completely missing. Oh well, their store declines my card every time I try to order anyway, so no big deal I guess. :(

No easy to navigate sections at the bottem of page like: Poser V3 Hair These are at the top of the page now.

I was REALLY unhappy to log in to find my wishlist and cart completely missing. Your wishlist should still be there. The carts were emptied at changeover, we gave as much notice of that happening as we possibly could.

*Customer review were removed!* These are in the process of being migrated over to the new system. *No more, "What Other Customer Bought" or "Other Products by.."* That feature is being evaluated for return in the near future. (Sorry to skip about with the answers. I kept spotting more queries.) You can see a list at the attached link of what's being worked on. And at the link Acadia posted earlier, you can see what features have already been requested for return.

I hate it partly because navigation is on the right instead of the left. Now that's a bit funny, because right when the New Marketplace opened, the navigation WAS on the left. And people screamed about it and wanted it on the right... Me personally I don't care which side it's on, as long as the things I need is there to find. I'm lefthanded but use my right hand for the mouse... So it works fine for me on the right, but I had no objections to it on the left either. It would be nice if it, along with the colours, was something the USER could decide. Just like in the forums. As for the jumbled text on some items, the html has changed slightly, making some pages who relied on html look crappy. Also the linebreak function is off, I'm going through my own pages to at least try to remedy that situation... (and to add "other products by this merchant" ;o) )

How does one send a Message or E-mail to a Merchant anymore??? It used to be a simple thing to do. Cheers DR

There should also be a link to the merchant's homepage here at R. Now, when you're on their store and click their names, you return to the already open page.

I would like to see the upload date clear on product page. Other than that, I'll wait and see until they have finished the work on Marketplace. You really should remember things change all the time in life.

Good to hear some things like reviews will be back. But what about the Star system? That was another thing Renderosity had that many others didn't, and it was great. bB

Oh I miss the upload date too! bB

I agree. I finally figured out that if I copied their name and then opened another window to "messaging" I can paste their name in and send my message. But it's a pain having to do that when you could just click a link within item page/store itself.

My one bug is, I just purchased two items and it took me a while to find them, vice the old way : what you brought last was the very first thing.

Hedda ( ) posted Sat, 28 January 2006 at 10:34 AM

Have to agree with almeidap, I really have problems find things I have bought, and I liked so much better when my last purchase was the first listed when I opened my purcasehistory. Another thing, I have bought so many items, and before it always warned me that the item I was about to buy was already purchased or in my wishlist..I really miss that function, and I have only bought once since the new system, cause I don't like it at all. Before I used to buy almost 4-5 times a week.

shedofjoy ( ) posted Sat, 28 January 2006 at 11:12 AM

I understand that if people complain then it should be fixed or changed, But what is it with the, Let change the whole thing attitude???? Did someone complain about the old market place???? Have more people complained about the old RMP to the new RMP? I imagine not. Or do Rosity want complaints? So why change it? surely If it aint broke DONT fix it... and if we were happy leave it alone... or are these words brushed under the carpet again?

Getting old and still making "art" without soiling myself, now that's success.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Sat, 28 January 2006 at 12:38 PM

The "warning about double purchases" is listed as a squashed bug though. So that SHOULD have been fixed.

The double purchases bug has been fixed. shedofjoy - the changeover to a robust, modern and low-maintenance code system has been considered and slated for implementation for a long time. Did people complain about the old system? Yes, frequently, when we couldn't make it do what we wanted. Did more people complain about the last one than this one? Yes, I'd say so, judging by the length of the relative threads in the Community Centre. Karen
