Subject: Thumbnails in the galleries

alfstan ( ) posted Wed, 25 January 2006 at 3:34 PM ยท edited Fri, 26 July 2024 at 7:09 AM

Been gone for awhile and don't know if I am the only one having this problem or not. I can't view any thumbnails images in any of the galleries. I tried to see if the problem I'm having has been addressed but haven't found an answer yet. In my searching I see that some changes may have been made to the site. Can anyone tell me how to get the thumbnail images back in the galleries. Any gallery I go to doesn't have any thumbnails, only the titles and authors, etc. When I click on the title I can see the image in a new window, no problem but seeing as I do not look at every image in a gallery it is hard to look at what I want to look at. I find the thumbnails indespensible for this. Can anyone help me. I've cleared the cache and the temp files, what else can I do to get the thumbnails back. Is anyone else haveing this problem?? Thanks

My wife (WandM) encounters the exact problem as you have and we also did the same things you did. It looks like there is a problem on the R'osity server that affects some members. Hope it will be solved soon.

I have forwarded this to the programmers to see what I can find out. I'll post back in here as soon as I find out what might be causing this problem for some. Thanks Stacey Community Manager

I can't view any thumbs either. I am using Mozilla Firefox Browser on Win XP, and my firewall is ZoneAlarm Pro, also using Norton Antivirus!

Mmm... You can also see it this way... Showing the image in a other window is FASTER !! And while looking at the image sellected you can in the galerie go to the NEXT page ... That is not possible in the "old" way.. So it got it pro's aswell :} CB

Not used anymore

Make sure you are accepting the Renderosity cookie. If you're not, you won't be able to see the graphics. Thanks Stacey

Stacey, if the cookie were the problem I wouldnt see any of the ads, or the renderosity logo over there, or links on the page etc.... either right? I can see those, as well as the thumbs in the market place, and the thumbs in the contest area's too, what I cannot see, is the thumbnails in the gallery. Thats it, this problem just began for me yesterday.

You're right BDC. I have given the programmers more information to see if they can isolate the problem. Will let you know as soon as possible. Stac

I found that when I disabled ZoneAlarm Pro, I was able to view the thumbs. When I fired up ZA again I couldn't view them!

Hello all I just read Porthos reply. I too use ZoneAlarm Pro. I guess that is the problem because when I shut it down, sure enough, the thumbnails came back to the galleries. Turned ZoneAlarm back on and the thumbs dissappeared again. It's evediently causing something to happen that prevents the thumbs from loading. This is happening both in Internet Explorer and in Netscape. I just checked out my settings in ZoneAlarm Pro and couldn't find anything that would cause this to happen so I guess that I'll have to let the puter experts out there find out what is going on and then either fix it or let us know how to do it. I have used ZoneAlarmPro for at lease the last two years now while viewing these galleries and never had this problem before. Thanks Porthos for posting this message, I probably would not have thought to check out ZoneAlarm because it didn't cause any problem before. Thanks again

I ended up having the same problem.

It IS Zone Alarm. I myself have Zone Alarm Security Suite.

What it was in my situation was the "Ad Blocking", once turned off everything works as it should on Renderosity.

I usually never have that turned on anyway, it was just bad coincidence that it was activated.

SO...beware of pop-up blockers, ad-blockers and the such!!

Hi Agent Smith. We have also ZA Security Suite and encounter the same problem. Where can we find this "Ad Blocking" setting? Regards Hyperborea

Double-click on the "ZA" icon by your system tray clock, the Zone Alarm window will (should) come up.

Then on the left-hand side, click "Privacy", and then on the right choose the first Tab entitled "Main".

Right there should be the slider for the Ad-Blocking.

Good to run into you, btw! ;oD

Thanks for all the help and comments everyone. It seems that ZoneAlarm was the culprit all along. Thanks everyone, problem solved.

I was hit by this problem and guessed it was ZoneAlarm. This thread was very helpful in pointing me in the right direction of the cure.

As a refinement to AgentSmith's solution, leave ad blocking on full on the main privacy page and click on the "Site List" tab which is just to the right his green circled "Main" tab. Select Renderosity from the list of sites and then click on the "options" button at the bottom right of the page.

In the dialog box that comes up, select the "Ad Blocking" tab. Here you can enable ads (all or some) just for this site.

Obviously you can make custom settings like this for any individual website (such as DAZ), whilst leaving yourself protected for normal web surfing.
