Subject: Carrera 5 - Transposer 2 purchase problems

Naladae ( ) posted Mon, 30 January 2006 at 5:14 AM · edited Wed, 01 January 2025 at 5:45 AM

Hello - I've come to this forum from the Poser forum, where there is a thread on using Carrera for rendering Poser scenes. Based on what people were saying, I was very keen on buying Carrera. I've not had a lot of luck with modelling before, but hoped I'd find Carrera easier. Plus improved rendering for my scenes? Bonus! Unfortunately, when I went to place my order for Carrera 5 and Transposer at Eovia's site I got all the way through the order, entered my Credit card details and got the following message: "Dear customer: We are sorry to say that the developer of the software TransPoser 2.0 for Carrara 5 English - Download is exporting this software only to specific markets. Your order cannot be processed due to these constraints." I assume this means someone there doesn't want to sell to me because I live in England. Does anyone in this forum have any idea what this is all about? Are there any other UK based users who have found a way to get Transposer despite this very odd "export ban"?

That's a new one, the only thing I can think of is if you've gotten through to Eovia's US store, rather than their European branch. Email Eovia - they're usually pretty good with sorting stuff out quickly.

I can't think why you should have any problems, unless you are ordering through the US site rather than the European one. You do need to make sure of that by clicking the Euro price not the US dollars.

Could be! I've never ordered there before, and usually American sites bill me just like anyone else. If Eovia do things differently, that might explain it. Thanks - I'll have another look. ;)

Naladae. Yes, you need to order via the European store link. It is Eovia France.

Ah! So they're going to insist on billing me in Euros! I'll have a go at that then. Honestly! All the other online stores I use quite happily manage to bill me in $US, but these folks can't do that? It's not as though we use Euros here in the UK any more than we use dollars after all! :p

Naladae, IF my understanding is correct Eovia is a French based corperation, so their European business is handled thru there, it's the US that's the subsidiary, set up for US orders. mike

Are you terrorism list? ;P

Are you terrorism list? Hmmm... I very much doubt it. Does protesting at the placement of American Nuclear missiles in the UK count as "terrorist activity"? It was back in the 1980's, but some people have long memories. ;) Even so, it's hard to see what nefarious deeds I could get up to with Transposer, even if I was a hardened freedom fighter. :D

Yeah,I am much more suspicious of element 5 .If you are getting electronic download. For some reason last time I ordered via us store I got charged like 2% more which only showed on my cc not invoices or anything from them....they said it was the credit card companies'charge because of european conversion(I called), but didn't mention it anywhere altho they say they knew about it. Also I am in US and it was the US side??? Then this time actual prices matched ....no hidden fees. Makes you wonder.

No need to think outside the box....
