How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

OMG!! First off I want to thank the staff here for this truly great honor...I am extremely humbled by my selection to this great gallery. Many thanks for my selection! Cyn you did such a beautiful job on that collage, it did bring me to tears...honestly. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I played a gig tonight with my band, and it was our last gig together after playing with each other for 20 years..we decided it was time to move on to other things. I was feeling quite bummed about it...that, and being single for the last 6 years makes the holidays a little sad for me. But I dragged my lip in and booted the computer up and found out this fantastic news...this just kicked started my New Year! Suddenly the New Year has taken a turn for the better and it's due to this great site and all the great artists that post here and encourage me. Never in my wildest dreams would I ever think about making GOM! I have looked at every GOM since I've come to this site, and have marveled at the talent it takes to make it in this gallery....again I am truly humbled. As a photographer I always see my work with flaws, and each image I try to improve on...but I never really seem happy with my images...I'm pretty critical on myself, but I guess others see what I am missing in my images and for that I am thankful~ Thank you all for this great accolade, and believe me I got a smile from here to Maui! Have a great New Year everyone...I know I will now!! Much Aloha to all, Dave~

:D beaming.. awwwe Dave.. it's very well deserved!!.. you strive for perfection in your work & it shows.. you bring us paradisaical island beauty some of us have only dreamed about.. the thumbs above are only a sampling of the masterpieces one can find in your gallery (thanks for using full thumbs btw :) & that gorgeous daughter of yours.. see the pride reflected in her eyes? she's absolutely right! Sorry to hear of the end of your band.. i bet you're just as good at that.. what do you play & do you sing too? ;]

Punaguy ( ) posted Sun, 01 January 2006 at 10:59 AM

Thanks Cyn again! I have played guitar and sang in some sort of rock band since I was 15 yrs. old. After laying off for about 10 yrs. took it up again and have played in a the same band for the last 20 yrs. When I was asked to come up with the name for the band, the first thing that came out of mouth was "2 Guys From Puna" because it was just the 2 of us playing small bars...the name has stuck over all these years even though we have added 2 more guys over the years. So over the years we have had to endure the endless jokes..."If your 2 Guys From Puna, why are their 4 of you?"...oh gawd how many times have I heard that one? My stock answer is usually..."Only 2 of us get paid"! That usually stops the questions.... Thanks again Cyn! Aloha to All!

There's no need to be humble when you're as great as you are! ;] Many big congrats Dave, you certainly desrve it. A trip through your gallery is almost as good as a trip to Hawaii...almost. =P I'm so glad you finally have been recognized, it is about time. Perfect timing actually, from your wistful story there. Keep up the great work brah! Aloha! (note to self, always use full size thumbs...heh heh heh) (wonderful presentation there Cyn!)

OK- let's end the confusion. This is Dave's SON Jonathan, that posted the comment. He has 3 Kids, Me being the #1 son, and then #1 daughter Kai short for Ka'iKe'a, but I'll spare ya on the pronunciation. Then there's Garner #2 son. Now we can all be the same page. :P Aloha to all my pops RR buddies!
