Subject: Rendercow on Mac OS 10.4.4

michaelj ( ) posted Sat, 28 January 2006 at 9:18 AM · edited Sun, 26 January 2025 at 6:06 PM

Hi, I've just purchased Vue 5 Infinite, and have the windows download version, which seems to include the Mac files I also need. Everything is fine on the PC. However, the Mac Rendercows setup fails everytime on the Mac (and the main installer won't run either). I just want to get my Mac mini helping out on my renders. Does anyone have a rendercow installer that works on 10.4.4 that they could send me, or further info on how to fix this ? I've posted a tech support question on e-on's board, but I guess I won't hear anything back before next week. Many thanks.

I think update your vue 5 infinite to the latest version, and install rendercow on both puters. Then with both puters connected via your ethernet cable, restart the mac mini, and the rendercow should update to the latest version. Love esther

Hi Esther. The problem is, I can't get the installer to run correctly on the Mac. It falls over when I first try to install it.

Oh, hmmm that's not good. I don't suppose you've got 10.4.3 somewhere on another computer to try it? Love esther

Hi. I don't have 10.4.3 anywhere, but they've confirmed it's a known problem with the installer on some machines. I'll just have to make do on a single machine for a while. Thanks for the help !

OH, sorry to hear that. My computer is right now offering to upgrade me to 10.4.4 from 10.4.3 I think maybe I better not do it just yet. Love esther

Hey Esther. Not to worry - The devs have just replied to my message and provided a new installer which works great under 10.4.4 - I have both my PC and Mac rendering away !! It'll no doubt trickle into the main release real soon now, and the links are on the knowledgebase entry anyway. The support seems excellent.
