The Nyxem Virus has been accumulating victims with the latest email scam On the 3rd February 2006 the Nyxem-E Windows virus is set to delete Microsoft Office Programmes and Acrobat files on infected machines. The virus gets into computers through email attachments promising adult materials, with headings such as: Fw: Funny :) Fw: Picturs Hot Movie As well as attacking Word, Powerpoint, Excel and PDF files this virus can also prevent the mouse and keyboard from working. PC users have been urged to scan their computers before the 3rd to prevent this destructive virus causing damage. ================================================ Just a heads up people, always best to update your virus protection and scan at least every 2 days or more....(I do it every day.....scan, that is!) Same here marc, I scan every day as well. Thank's for the notice, I'm safe though 'cos unless it's called "babe with scruffy black hair and green eyes" I probably wouldn't open it anyway :-P BTW, just to add to marcs advice: If anyone DOES ever suspect something dodgy in an email or after sufing, it's important to remember; DO NOT REBOOT until AFTER you've scanned and removed any potential hazard. A reboot is a "breed like a rabbit" ticket to a lot of viruses etc. Len.

I heard from a friend about it just 2 days ago, apparently it spreads as an email offering you some pr0n in a zipfile/ Tough luck for all the suckerz that actually accept and open anonymous porn mail.... hehe

Never trust unsollicited zip-files or for that matter other files. Be sure to have a up to date virusscanner.

Another safe thing to do is never let your e-mail client open files, always force to safe it or at least force a pop-up warning you that you are about to do something potentially dangerous or equally stupid. Just as a reminder.

Well I've only fell for it once when I got my very first internet connection.

It was an email called "I Love You" if I remember correctly. Of course, like a sex-starved nut I opened it but don't remember anything bad happening from it (apart from realising I'd been seduced by a spammer). That said, I knew nothing about the internet back then, so something probably did happen and I didn't realise it :-P

Oh yes that would work for sure. Tell people that there are 100.000.000.000 stars in our own galaxy and they believe you. On the other hand just put a sign on the door saying "Caution, wet paint" and wait....
