I am watching the NEW HyperMarination version of Captain Scarlet (Ron Thornton and CGI WHOOOOO!) and darn if Captain Blue doesnt remind me of Michael from Daz. Reliving part of my childhood. What fun!

I wish there was a poserised SPV out there, from the original show.

OK, I admit it, I'm a GA fan. Grew up with Space 1999, Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet (personally I think Captain Black is misunderstood). I now have a small collection of un-Poser-ized Space 1999 stuff that is just waiting for me to make some scenes - when I can stop doing NVIAT (or diverse other settings).

SamTherapy ( ) posted Wed, 01 February 2006 at 7:27 AM

I loved 'em all as a kid... Space Patrol, Supercar, Fireball XL5, Stingray, Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet. I lost interest around the time of Joe 90 but watched the later, live action show, UFO.

looking back on them.. there are things that really make you laugh.. like launching the Zero-X in Thunderbirds.. She's in the Hanger... ok.. do we Taxi out or move this this immense concrete hanger. .... they moved the hanger.. (yes. I know it's models ;) but think about it ;)) and we all know that Thunderbird 2 can't pick up a pod on the conveyor belt... they're too close together.... ;)

I LOVE the new CG version of Captain Scarlet. It's really cool.

"I swear there's a japanese website with T2." Thunderbirds was really, really popular in Japan. Well I mean come on, the ship SFX are very similar to Japans own tradition.

Actually Gerry Anderson in general is very popular in Japan. There was a recent anime series co-created by Anderson, IIRC It was called Firestorm. It had pretty low budget 2d animation about the quality Japan used to farm out to the US in the 80s... (Think GI Joe), as well as a very weak story, But the machines were represented with beautiful 3d CGI... They were really cool.

Anyway I liked (The original) Thunderbirds quite a lot... I wish I had gotten to see the original Captain Scarlet.

I miss the old warning tho.. "Captain Scarlet is Indestructible. You are Not...."

My plan is to model STINGRAY. I have SHADE 7 and a so-so set of "blueprints" for it. There is also a lack of blueprints or 5-way orthographic drawings of any of the Gerry Anderson models.

Love to see some of the uniforms from UFO for vicky3...:)

While not 5-way orthographic drawings.. In the 1960's TV21 comic and annuals published amazing cut-away drawings of many of gerry andersons work. I don't have a copy of a 60's annual to hand to recall the artists name. However in the 90's another talented guy Graham Bleathman started a series of new cutaways. http://www.grahambleathman.co.uk/salecrosssections.htm While his site doesn't show stingray, a glance in my libarary shows it is featured in the 1993 annual (the black one). The Blue annual (same year - different publisher) has the terror fish, titanica, and pacifica cutaways.

The original Captain Scarlet is out on dvd in Australia and the UK, I dn't know if it made it to the US. Having a poser version of the moon base uniform from UFO would be cool. I have seen poser versions of a lot of the vehicles from UFO, done by Anthony.

I grew up watching Supercar, Fireball XL5 (fave), Stingray (Troy Tempest was modeled after James Garner), Thunderbirds, and of course, Captain Scarlet. Only saw one episode of Secret Service. Whatever you do, don't rent the new Thundebirds movie from a couple years back. sucked big time. Poser 3 makes great Steve Zodiac and Doctor Venus faces.

I think that is why I purchased LaRoo from RDNA. She reminded me of the marionettes.
