Subject: Problem with injecting MyMiki into Miki model

Fumanshoo ( ) posted Fri, 03 February 2006 at 1:52 AM · edited Wed, 04 December 2024 at 4:14 AM

I keep getting an error message in Poser saying "Can't open script for reading(PEPythonEngine::DoScript())" whenever I apply a MyMiki head morph or one of the full body morphs. When I click on the "OK" button (its the only way to get rid of the pop-up message), either Miki's head morphs into what looks like a space alien or one of her body regions (her shorts mostly) turns into a crumpled newspaper looking mass on her hip. Is there a way to correct this? I purchased Miki (content paradise) along with MyMiki (here) and Miki-Kit1 for a whopping total of $70 and I can't do a damned thing with the set other than just opening Miki and leaving her as-is, which isn't much fun. I have also re-installed Poser and have taken the time to clean up my runtime folder. Yet, it yields the same results. Am I missing something? And what is Python anyway?

The "space alien" look happens when the injections are doubly applied, like doing the full body morph and then applying the head morph over it. Python is the scripting language that Poser uses to execute external scripts. The error messages suggest that either Python is not installed correctly, or not updated to SR2, or you are trying to use this on a MAC where it won't work because the scripts need "Tkinter" to function.

Python scripts *some) have to be stored on the same Runtime you work in. Miki, I've noticed has a big "lag" on commands.

I to have Miki, My Miki and Kit1. PC, Poser 6 SR2 Works fine for me. The only thing I noticed was if I applied MtMiki Dial at 1.000 with other Miki head Morphs applied, i get pinching around the nose.

Is this Python Script a separate program that can be installed separately and updated...if so and where? Also, I never double-injected the morphs, but still got the "alien" look after starting over with a new Miki base model. "...Python scripts *some) have to be stored on the same Runtime you work in. Thank you all for your responses.

Python is part of the base Poser installation and will be updated by any service release (current for P6 is SR2) The paths are relative rather than absolute (i.e.,":Runtime:Python:poserScripts:Utility:") so you have to install these Miki things in the same runtime that Python is under. The best thing to do is reinstall the packs under your primary runtime (after making sure that all the old ones are gone, check the file listing in the zip). Another thing is to contact the product author, who is probably more familiar with the ins-and-outs of Python than I am. There is also a Python forum here at Renderosity.

Funanshoo; You can just copy and paste your new scripts (nonP6) into a dummy folder: Ruvtime/Python?PoserScripts/(and/or)/Wacros/User Defined/ if you know what they are. Or, just copy Python and paste it after your Runtime: My Runtime/Geometries, Textures, ...Python* I'm pretty sure this is one problem. Happened to me while running face_off scripts from different Runtimes....on Miki.

Had the same prooblem. I had Miki in download runtime folder. I had to install the python scripts in orginal P6 runtime python scripts and works fine.

Thank you for all of you guy's help. I discovered that only with the Miki character (so far), Poser6 will default the extraction into the "Download>Runtime" folder instead of the main Runtime folder regardless. Even if I set it to go elsewhere. So what I did was copy and paste just the Python scripts from the Download>Runtime>Python scripts folder into the main one and everything is working fine now.

I've loaded several figures in the main Runtime folder and they extract to THAT folder. But for some strange reason, Poser would split Miki into two different runtime folders. Starnge indeed.
