Subject: Part number?

Hi, I'm looking for a deal non buying a version of Photoshop from 7.0 up on ebay. I've found a few and some of them show the box with the part number, or just specify this part number: what is this? Can I be sure that these would be legal copies of the software? Is there a way to check these part numbers? Some items (on ebay) from different sellers have different part numbers: is it possible? And a final question: would you trust buying photoshop on ebay with a stated part number? Thanks, hope somebody can help.

I have the original box from my copy of CS2, direct from adobe, and it does, indeed, have a part number on the box. The one thing you might be VERY careful of, is that UPGRADES are sold, implying that they are FULL version. As to trusting something from e-bay... A business, I might. Also, when I did buy CS2, the best price was from Adobe. I believe they have an arrangement similar to AMD.... the legitimate sales only vary minutely, including the manufacturer. Curious thing.... they even took the time to put MY name in the "credits". Lou.

"..... and that was when things got interestiing."

The seller of the program MUST transfer the "License" (EULA) with the program as well or you will have "physical" possession of Photoshop by unable to register it.

As stated too, if it's an upgrade (though the CD does contain a full program) it will look for a previous version installed on your drive before continuing with the installation.

not sure about the trust factor when buying older commercial software on ebay, but DEFINITELY steer clear of any "OEM" packed offers!!

Thank you for replying, your comments help me with was I already afraid of: I think there's too much risk involved in buying software on ebay, especially when the software is Photoshop. I'd like to buy it because I have used when I was in school (for a comic course) and have tried the new demo: I can not get the same output with other graphic programs I have tried (on my mac). Maybe for now I'ss just stay with my Painter Classic and gimp :( . Or eventually go for Photoshop elements, at least until I can save more many for the full Photoshop CS.
