There should be a quality setting for the JPGs somewhere in PhotoDeluxe. It sounds like it's set to 100%, which would save it with no compression. I don't have the program loaded right now, so I can't help with finding the setting. Depending on what I'm going to do with the image, I usually save JPGs at around 80%. It makes quite a bit of difference in file size. You have to experiment to find your preference.
Shadowcat, if possible avoid loading and re-saving JPG-files (with a different name, compression rate or so), 'cause this results into growing loss of quality. Try it with some test image saved as JPG with very high compression and low quality (say 10 %). Open and resave it several times and you'll see what I mean ...! If you want to work on a downloaded image (usually JPG) later, you should save it in another format with no quality loss (but less effective compression), say TIFF, BMP or so. - wal
I agree, for quality sake, to save maps as a tif. I now regularly save my renders from Poser as a tif file and after I've done all my post work and special effects, save both a tiff version and then a jpg version for posting to galleries. When posting to any gallery, I've found a program called JPG Wizard incredibly handy for cutting down file size without a terrible loss in quality (since the original pic came straight from a tiff file.) I'm still wondering where the quality function is in Paintshop, if anyone knows, please let me know. Elizabeth Pope Dreamspinner Inc.

I don't know where I should really post this, so here it is. I'm having problems with .jpg's in adobe photodeluxe, all files are much larger (byte size) than they should be. For example if I were to download a .jpg then immediately resave it (as a .jpg) making no changes, the file size is 10 times larger than the original. I discovered this by accident, could this be a virus, something I'm doing wrong or something wrong with photodeluxe. (I'm going to post this in hardware/technical as well)
