Subject: Poser Crashes when loading texture maps

seedpress ( ) posted Sat, 24 March 2001 at 12:25 AM ยท edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 11:01 PM

My problem is this: When I try to load a texture map (in the render-materials menu) the program gives me an hourglass icon and locks up. Also happens with reflection-map load, and I would presume the other two, as well. I'm running Poser 4.0.3.126 (the latest, I presume?) Use Win 98 SE. I have tried re-installing the 4.03 patch, but the problem is persisting. I have not wanted to do a complete re-install. Is it possible that my "imageioEngineWin.DLL" and/or the "imageioUtilities.DLL" are corrupted? Could they (or some other possibly corrupted file) be installed from my CD without doing a full re-install? if so, which files should I try in order to resolve this glich? I have not had this problem until recently. Can't seem to trace back to what events may have precipated it. It's driving me nuts, though. Thanks in advance for any help or insight you may be able to offer.

What image format are you using?

I just click on the "load" button and it crashes as it's trying to enable the open and browsing litlle window.

There are some specific instances where Poser locks up when texture loading is involved. It's important to note exactly what you were doing when the lock up occured. Did this happen: 1. When loading a downloaded CR2 or PZ3? 2. When assigning a texture to a Character (or Prop) for the first time? 3. What format are you loading (Bum, tiff, jpg, bmp,???)? 4. Does poser ask for a specific file when this happens? Need more info

I'd say back up your custom Poser libraries, then wipe Poser off your HD completely and reinstall & patch.

Huolong, Seedpress here. It happened during your second example: "when 'trying' to assign a texture for the first time." I tried the following with both the naked man in "people" and with the default Poser man that first shows: I selected a body part. Any will do. Then I went to the render/materials menu. The materials screen pops up. I hit the "load" button. An hour glass comes up--and now it just stays there. No "open file" window will pop up, as it is supposed to do. At this point the program is locked up. If I cmtrol-alt-delete, the window says "Poser not responding". That's it. I have to close it out with control-alt-delete. The computer still runs okay at that point, but, of course, Poser is now closed. JeffH--I think your're right. I'm going to have to do a re-install, unless someone has another idea soon. Thanks folks.

Something's basically wrong. Re-install looks like sound choice.
