Setting Min shading rate to 0.25 or lower will increase the general quality of your renders. I haven't really played with the new lights in P6 much; I'm sure others will step up and help you out with that one.

Is it just me or is my renderer broken? I've also wanted to improve on the quality of the render so played around with different settings. But after it goes past certain setting, let's say above the half way mark in auto, I couldn't tell any difference or any changes. In terms of manual setting, I went up as high as 6 in RT, .10 in SR, 6 in PS, and 3072 in texture size. This is with cast shadows and raytrcing on with texture filtering off (I can't run texture filtering with texture size past 2056). Come to think of it, the render time took much longer so renderer must be doing something that I just couldn't notice.
On the other hand, I saw drastic improvement in sharpness and overall quality if I positioned the light in certain angles. Obviously, this probably is because of the placement of the shadows but I don't really know much about light properties other than being able to tell what looks good to my eyes.
That's just my own experience but, who knows, it could just be my eyes playing tricks on me :)

Leave texture filtering off. It does not improve quality - quite the opposite. Instead, lower the shading rate or the Max. texture size.Larger Max. Texture size will not necessarily lead to a sharper render. Smaller may be better. (See link for the explanation.)
Lighting can make a big difference. Larger shadow maps will produce a better quality render. But you will take a memory hit.
There are no "ideal settings" for every render. It depends on what kind of image it is, what size, how it's lit, what kind of textures and models are used, etc. That's why you should set your render options by hand. If you aren't using any displacement maps, you don't need "use displacement." You do not need texture filtering in the vast majority of cases, but it triples your memory use, so leave it off. The best Max. texture size depends partly on the size of the image you are rendering. The Gaussian filter makes things look a bit blurry if set too high, but can soften dynamic hair so it looks more natural. Etc.

to getting a good firefly render in P6? Every time I render w/firefly in P6 it looks jagged as if it isn't anti aliased. I'd like to try to use the new lights in poser6 but right now I can't figure out to get anything in firefly to look ok. Please help...thanks.
