Subject: 2 Mats for 1 Prop. Have searched but.......

cornelp ( ) posted Wed, 15 February 2006 at 8:36 PM · edited Mon, 20 January 2025 at 9:34 AM

Hello. I have searched the forum for this. I found a few threads that states MAT Pose Edit, etc etc, but I am bit confused, sorry. I have a prop I made. I loaded it into Poser 6 and did NOT load any textures prior to saving it as a Prop to the Library. Basically I want it so that once U click on the prop, it loads with no textures. That would be the next step. I have 2 textures sets for this prop. I went into the Materials, loaded the first set, saved it as Material Set. Then loaded the second set of textures, and saved it again as a Material Set. Now, as I searched thru the forum, I found that I can take the Poser 6 Material File and edit it, and change the "MTL Collection" to "figure" and save it as "pz2" file. Now, I loaded Poser 5 and Daz Studio to TEST the new prop. I loaded the NON-TEXTURED Prop, everything good so far. Then I went into the poses folder, and saw the 2 texture sets that I created. I clicked on the first one, but the textures DID NOT LOAD. I tried the second one and same thing. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong, or what I am supposed to do to make this happen? Sorry if this was answered before, but I searched the forum and got a little MORE confused, so I apologize ahead of time for that. THANK YOU... I appreciate your time.

I'm not sure that material collections will work on Props but if they do, you have to replace "MTL Collection" with "actor" and not with "figure" when you are creating matposes for props.

since it's a prop, not a figure, you may want to try "actor $CURRENT" instead of "figure." also you need to have a figure somewhere in the scene for matposes to apply to props.

I'll just mention that "actor $CURRENT" doesn't work in all versions of Poser. It won't work in Poser 4, but is okay for P5 and P6. Not sure about ProPack, but suspect not.

I use only "actor" and it works fine in P6 and P4. Never thought of adding "$CURRENT" ;o)

to work in P4, you must use "actor YOURPROPNAME", & the internal names must match exactly (so the matpose will apply to YOURPROPNAME, but not to YOURPROPNAME_1). using $CURRENT & P5up lets you apply the matpose to any instance of the prop, or even other props if they have the same material zones. can be handy! -jan-
