Subject: SSP, but with a query.

I have been making a new tex set for this Daz model. You can see some parts of it here, all told there are about 21 high res textures. This is an untouched bryce render, the textures have also been tested in D/S and poser4. Do you think the tex sets are worthy of selling, probably at Daz?

Go for it! Very nic pic BTW. :)

Definately, go for it. Love that knot work!

From the pic you gave, I can see no flaws. But why DAZ? I find them very expensive. What's their cut BTW?

These are beautiful and unique textures, certainly worthy of the marketplace!

CrazyDawg ( ) posted Mon, 20 February 2006 at 6:38 PM

chohole, nice texturing work, i can't see no reason for you not being able to sell them at DAZ or here.. Now you need to work on some textures for the external view of that model ;)

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

BTW, I may have an idea that could aid you in designing even more celtic knotwork textures. If you are interested I will email you the particulars.

"What's their cut BTW?" The same as everybody elses cut. Well, almost everybody's. 50% Yup, ouch. But that's the deal, almost anywhere. AS

I believe textures for DAZ originals are 60/40 cut with DAZ getting the higher amount.... Submit it to Q&A. Besides brokering, items can also be sold to DAZ out right, as daz originals, or platinum club, or for Free-Product. Tip...selling items for free products, will boost the sells of your brokered products....Many people checks out all your products when you give away a good free-be.

Thanks for all the input. I said Daz, because the House was a plat club item, and I sorta figured that even with 50% of $1.99, if enough people bought it, then I would have a bit of dosh to recoup some of the price of the new PC, (or to buy even more plat club items :-)). Last time I had anything up in the MP here I sold the grand total of 12 packs, although my related free items made over 1000 downloads. @ Danamo, yes please, anything to help. At the moemnt my knotwork is fairly basic. What I did with the ones I have used on the house is to make photoshop brushes of them, which is why there are only a few different knots.

DAZ like 'rosity's MP is 50/50 if exclusive. DAZ only sends you a cheque if you make of $20 that month, otherwise you have to wait (I think 6 months) before they pay you. They also charge you the Credit card company's Charge back fee (which I think is $10) if the person decides they don't want the item after they purchased it. Places like (and I'm not advertising for them here for I'm not a merchant) Vanishing Point doesn't charge you any charge back because they have "Charge Back insurance". I'm sure you could find similar brokerage sites that are more forgiving than DAZ or the MP. Drac posted a message suggesting WOB was going to create a MP whereby the artists gets 100%. You should IM him to see where he's going with that.

Big oops, sorry. A correction on what I had said earlier (and then deleted) reguarding Renderosity's split; -------------- Whether it is exclusive or not exclusive, it is a 50/50 split here. The top 30 selling merchants whom are exclusive get a 60/40 split. But, ANY merchant that have an exclusive item, gets an extra free banner ad and more aggressive exposure throughout the MP, etc, blah. -------------- Whew...if I had misquoted the MP, Renderosity would have sent ninjas in the middle of the night for my soul.
