Congrats from me, too! I really enjoy hockey, even though I don't think I've ever actually seen a goal scored :-) I think my favorite quote comes from "The West Wing"... "Scoring in hockey seems to come out of nowhere. The play-by-play guy is always shocked. LePeiter passes to Huckenchuck who skates past the blue line. Huckenchuck, of course, was traded from Winnipeg for a case of Labatts after sitting out last season with... Oh my God, he scores!"
I don't really like Hockey all that much either, but I really love the Winter Olympics. What I don't like about the winter olymics though is the fact they let high paid professionals (IE: NHL Players) participate. I've always considered the Olympics to be the best of the best of amateur athletes, how the professional NHL players are able to enter the games amazes me.

There is a reason why they allow Pros in Hockey and Basketball. Because during the time of the Soviet Union, Soviet players were trained to the level of professionals but weren't paid and thus were considered amateurs. College level amateur players couldn't compete against a team of seasoned veterans. So, the IOC allowed for pro players to play to even the playing field. Same goes for basketball.

Canada was simply better than the rest as it was expected. Im kinda dissapointed with the Fins. I was hoping our ladies could challenge Canada at least but didn't happen. Canada was simply better in all areas of the game. And then the fins lost the bronze to USA. Well USA was better but still Fins did poorly. Sweden on the other hand was great. Luckily the men are doing well :D Gooo Finland :P We even beat Canada in the preliminaries. Amazing. Still I fear we are going to lose to USA come playoffs time. USA has been underperforming and sooner or later they will get it together and I fear that might happen in playoffs when they face Finland. Im kinda suprised at Swedens performance as well. I expected more from them.

...how the professional NHL players are able to enter the games amazes me. It doesn't seem to be helping Canada's Team though, is it? Women got GOLD but men stink so far. loll BRAVO to our women!
