Actually...that's "sale" not "sell". Editing on here is kinda the pits. :)

I just bought, wonder what their deal is with recent purchases. I would have gotten C5Pro instead of just regular C5.

Lot less than I paid. :(

tkane18 ( ) posted Wed, 15 February 2006 at 4:46 PM

I hate when that happens. I just got mine during last month's sale.

Luckily, I got some good deals at christmas (20% off). This is even better for upgraders. I upgraded from c3 to c5pro plus the Apack plugins so it was some bucks. Didn't get as good a deal on Hex as the $99 offer I missed, but it's a great app.I don't know if they have deals on sidegrades or other items. The dec sale may have covered more products so it's all relative. There is always some new sale so you just never know. Meanwhile you don't have the app. I think it is nice they are doing regular promos...I am sure it is good for business. Machineclaw...if you just purchased I would check with them(eovia or element5), especially if you are willing to spend more money:) That's why I posted it for people who aren't getting email from eovia and who haven't bought yet.

I got this message too. And the upgrade price for me from C3 would be $79. That is a screaming deal. But a question: I am a hobbyist at best and rarely at all anymore. The price jump to get to pro is $229. Compared to what I use now in C3, would C5 Standard be a good choice? Are the few extra bells and whistles in Pro worth it for a hobby type user? I am sure it depends on what your needs are but I don't really know what the Pro features would get for me and if I would use them? Any thoughts? Thanks, Paul

Well, that is a personal choice. I would go compare the 2. The modeling is better in pro, but you can buy hex, which I did even tho I have pro.The file support and animation tools are the other big areas...like with mocap data, graph editor.C5 standard is even better than C4Pro except for file support and the 2 included plugins (cadstyle/transposer). So for that you can't loose. Just make sure you aren't missing something you will want later because it will cost the same price to go from c5 to pro as c3 to pro. I doubt I will use every pro feature, but there was enough there that I decided to get on the pro side now for later upgrades.Matchmoving I think is only in pro, as well.

Thanks ren_mem. I did compare the differences and I am still leaning towards standard as I really don't think I would need/use the pro features. They made a couple of the features of C4Pro part of C5 standard so that is cool. I think it will be a great jump going from 3 to 5 regardless of Pro/Standard. I also want to get Hexagon and learn to use that. So I think between the two apps, you have a pretty good set of 3D tools that's tough to beat. Regards, Paul

I'm gunna stick with C5 standard. I'll grab Transposer2 soon. good deals though. anybody know what the 20% off addon is and how to get that 20%? or is it just for new purchasers?

ren_mem ( ) posted Thu, 16 February 2006 at 2:00 PM

That plugin discount defintely looks to be for new purchases.

Paul, that probably is good for you from what you said. I have to mention that DS is free and it's got animation and the powerpose I actually find easier than carrara(it's very nice). You can use native then export a pz2 from DS w/ it's free script exporter.DS doesn't have rigging yet tho, but carrara 5 does. They even have a bvh plugin for D|S along with many others coming very soon (might already be out).

Thanks Much. I have tried D/S and I like it. Of course I really liked the last version of Poser I had, Poser 4. I just never got around to upgrading and eventually sold it on eBay. Thanks for the comments, Paul

if you don't have C5 but wnat it whenever the next upgrade promo comes, and you don't have C4 or C3 either, consider getting CS3 first at $49.95 including free shipping in the US. from thebest3d of course. (shameless self promo)

55taelines ( ) posted Thu, 02 March 2006 at 7:31 AM

I bought C3 for 49.95 at Purplus and then a month latter got an email from Eovia with an upgrade offer for C5 for 79.00. Jumped at the chance. Still fumbling around with it though.
