If you look at the "paths" in WinZip, they should begin with "runtime." If they don't, you'll have to place the files manually. There's a FAQ at the top of the page that explains where things go.
Another problem you might run into is that many freebies require a purchased item in order to work. For example, a lot of the "clothes" in free stuff is not actually clothing. It's textures for clothing. If you don't own the clothing the textures are made for, you can't use that freebie.
Another option...make sure that when you unzip, the main folder is called 'runtime'. Often I download freebies that start with a folder above the 'runtime' folder, and when I extract them then end up all wrong. Usually I just manually place all the files in the right directory. Hope this makes sense, and is of any help. Take care, Sabra
If it starts with a folder above "runtime," you can just copy the item's runtime folder over the runtime you want the item in.
It's when the pathnames start with the folders below "runtime" you have to place everything by hand. Or when they don't have paths at all. (A lot of older items are like that.)

Hi all..me Again! I'm running xp as my operating system..and using poser 5. Whenever I try to download a freebie and unzip it into poser, they keep winding up in the wrong place or simply don't work. I'm pretty sure its the extraction thats the problem. Some things I have been able to cut and paste into the right folder, not so much luck with others. Primarily its the things that were saved from the runtime file by the freebie providers I have trouble with.
Any suggestions? So many wonderful free goodies out there...
