Subject: Importing object with their textures

I know this has probably been asked before but I can't find the post. I'm importing objects created in AMAPI Ver 6 into Vue4 Esprit. I'm saving them in AMAPI as either 3DS or OBJ formats and they import OK except none of the textures come through. It's all the default grey. Is there any way to get these textures into Vue, or am I stuck with re-texturing? Is there maybe a better format other than 3DS or OBJ to import with that will make this work? Thanks, Kevin

Well I know that obj won't import textures if no .mtl file is created, but for 3ds, textures are normally imported ok, unless you are using Amapi procedural shaders. In this case, Vue, or any other app cannot import the textures, because procedurals don't translate well from one program to another, but if you use a bitmap for your texturing in Amapi, then it will translate into Vue if you export in 3ds.
