THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: OT: You know it's a good day at work when.....

...instead of doing your normal job of writing code and documents....

Your boss shows you a Powerpoint slide with a vague attempt at doing a 3D diagram and says....

"Hey, you do all that 3D artwork stuff, what can you do with this?"

You throw together some Bryce primitives, make them glassy, put a chrome plane under them, put some text on them....

...and earn the adoration and praise of your MD and all your co-workers.....

...and get paid to do it !!

Getting paid to create Bryce scenes is sweet mate:)

I never intended to make art.

I would be very careful telling anyone in this forum where you work. I guess you dont want an army of fellow brycers lurking around your job;)

If you like doing commercial 3d work, you could always try and make some graphics that are good for commercial use. Like making some 3d logo's, nice 3d interface elements for websites. And most of all, try to keep having your boss notice the stuff u can do ;-) Because once he thinks "oooh this guy could give us an edge by providing 3d graphics for us" u might get more assignments! 3d business cards, 3d web elements in the stuff ur coding, 3d logo animation for the company, 3d banners, advertizements, designs to decorate the company's cars with, there's so many possibilities!

I like your plan but there's one small flaw.... We write boring business solution software for people who work in exciting sectors like finance....

ooh ok. hmm.... well I'm programming lotsa administrational stuff too this year :-P but we also do lots more here with grahpics and such like what I mentioned above. I dont know how adventurous ur company's management is, but you never know, if you know more good graphics people you could maybe convince them to start up a graphics branch. If you have graphics experts and programmers both you can apply to a much larger market. Success depends on willingness of the powers that be to spread their wings to new markets as well as (and this is very important) the network and expertise you have available to convince them that it can be a success.
