Hello everyone! Well, I'm making a character for Aiko 3 to be sold at Rosity's marketplace, but I have a few questions as I've never sold anything in any marketplace... 1- She's a custom morph. I couldn't figure out how to make injection morphs in her, so I added the morphs in Aiko LE version (the free one) and saved as a .cr2. Is that ok or I can't do that with DAZ figures? I imagine it would be ok, as the LE version is free... 2- She looks kinda childish (well... as do most of Aiko characters). Actually, her face isn't childish, but she has small breasts and such. With the makeup textures, she looks adult, even with the small breasts; but with the natural head texture she looks a bit too "cutey"... I'm wondering if that'd keep me from posting pictures of her nude (and I'd rather post those, so costumers would see her body morph). Should I just assume she's a child and not post that? 3- Is it ok to paint hair and clothes on her and use that as product images if I don't postwork anything else (I mean, if I don't touch her textures or shape and such)? 4- Until some days ago, I didn't understand much of Poser6' material shaders, yet I wanted to make a Poser6 material that would give her some reality look. So I opened a character I had here (by some merchant, I can't remember who) and studied the materials... And that way I started making my own. Mine looks very similar to the other one, with some differences, but I didn't copy anything, I just used the other one as a guideline. Is this considered copying? I mean, would it be ok to distribut the material I made using other as a guide? Thanks in advance ;)

  1. I think you're supposed to use the AIKO Blank for morphdistribution. Someone else will no doubt correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you're allowed to use even the LE version for that, no matter that it's free. 2)I think Aiko is one of the characters you're allowed to show nude. I don't think she llooks like a child btw. Ask DebbieM. or one of the other admins here to be sure :o) 3) I'd put at least ONE of the promo pics without any added paint, so people can truly see the whole thing. Some may think (no matter if it's the case or not) that you're trying to hide flaws with paint :o) Oh and make it clear that the picture is postworked. 4) IMO that is quite ok. We learn the Material room by mimicking others :o) As long as it's not a direct copy I can't see any problems in it :o) Good luck!

Dimentsions3d has a product called Poser File Editor. It lets inject custom morphs and also combine a custom morph with any other dials you might use. Your character looks lovely. Good luck with her. cheerio lululee

Hi there, I'll address your questions in order :-) 1. No you can't. You need to create a custom morph injection and redistribute only that. Redistribution of the CR2 is forbidden by Daz. (Also, supplying a CR2 version is a pain in the butt if your customer then wants to add some other morphs as well, e.g. apply your character and then turn the breast dials up to 11 (10 points for the reference!)) 2. As shown here, she doesn't look underage to me. I would suggest showing the nude promo with a makeup map on so that she does look adult. 3. Product promos are supposed to be non-postworked. It's better to use Poser clothing and hair. You can always add a link from your product description page to a gallery render with added postwork effects. 4. Hmm, we haven't yet had the question of copyright on material room settings. It would be pretty bad form to copy someone else's settings exactly (although probably not legally a copyright violation.) I would suggest that your own character would need different values anyway since (in my experience) the settings should always be adjusted for the best match with the texture map in question. Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and... Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten? Nigel Tufnel: Exactly. Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder? Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where? Marty DiBergi: I don't know. Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do? Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven. Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder. Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder? Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven.

Thank you everyone for the quick answers... about the morphs, I have Injection Magic but I'm not too sure about how to use it. I tryed to make the injection poses, but they refuse to be added to Aiko... I think she doesn't have empty morph channels for injection poses? I've seen some postworked product promos... of course, I'd add at least one promo with no postword... still no good? Karen, my materials do have different values, colors and such. :) and thank you for the compliments... I'm quite proud of her, actually ;D

If I recall, Aiko LE has no injection channels (the full one does), so your sorta out of luck on injecting your character. I don't see any problem on redistributing the LE CR2 as a base for your character, though, this is generally allowed, bearing in mind IANAL, I suggest contacting DAZ 'bout it. At the very worst you could RTEncode it using the original as a key. I don't see any other way for you to do it.

She looks A LOT like she's closely based on Patchouli by Illusions Designs and that might be an issue as well.

Just enjoying the Vue. :0)

...hmm. Sure you not thinking of another product, kath? I just looked at Patchouli and don't see much similarity.

Although in keeping with the theme perhaps I should award 11 points... ;-)

I also don't see any similarity whatsoever between Patchouli and this character. Their faces are completely different. Patchouli may be found at http://illusions-designs.net

I ran into this issue with Aiko myself AikoLE has no INJ channels. It is acceptable to DAZ to distribute an aikoLE cr2 + your morph, along with the INJ setup to be used on Aiko full Lyrra Ex-Evil Overlord
