Subject: Animation - What Causes Flickering?

RyanSpaulding ( ) posted Fri, 03 March 2006 at 3:41 PM · edited Wed, 15 January 2025 at 1:02 AM

Now, I haven't had the problem yet...but I'm on an extremely close deadline here for an animation due in 2 weeks so I cant afford to have problems when I tender out my tif sequence... I think I'm going to disable object AA (you cant really see this in vid form I think), but doesn't the texture AA have to be set high to avoid the flickering? If so, how high? What tips can you give me ahead of time? It wont be crazy, just a lot of rotating of objects and camera rotation so I dont really need scripting advice...more just about how to avoid this flickering everyone talks about and other potential problems. Help/advice is greatly appreciated.

For animations? Boost OAA and uncheck TAA (see the attachment). Also, in global illumination scenes, if many details (e.g; forest) in large shot, enter a good illumination quality boost: 1 to 4.

Any other tips you can give me since you seem to create some of the best Vue animation work? So Texture AA causes flickering? I thought it'd be the other way around...
