Subject: is Liquid Motion only to include water for the challenge

LouLouBell ( ) posted Mon, 06 March 2006 at 11:32 PM ยท edited Fri, 27 December 2024 at 12:21 AM

Hi Is this months challenge confined to water in Liquid Motion or can it include other liquids like: soapy water, juice, cordial, coffee, spirits, champagne, hot mud, molten glass, etc ??? Hence, if these things are made up from "mostly" water, does that qualify ??

It's any liquid...to the best of my knowledge. It's just that with winter upon so many of us,there is a prevalence of snow/ice/water etc. images being posted. So go for it. :^)

Even air shows waht could be "called" liquid motion..if you could capture it! I saw "liquid motion" as a description of the "action" more than the substance. One thing about the challenges is you may be surprised at the creative interreptions of other photographers..that is for certain.

... as far as I understand ... liquid motion = fluid motion .......... :)

No offense Tom...but unless we're all fish,air is not a liquid,lol.

No offense to anyone but ...

... liquid motion = fluid motion .......... :)
... and air is a fluid !

when anyone captures the smoke of a cigarrette (just an example) this is fluid motion for sure !

Carlos.

P.S.- nobody asked my opinion and I doubt anyone cares how I think.

I am so glad somebody asked that question. Ok...Maybe I am going to say the weirdest thing yet, but I heard someone describe a phenomenal dancer as "liquid motion"... No worries!! I have plans for an upload that won't be dancing!! LOL I will stick with one of the liquids listed or a good stand by. Jodie :0)

I kid-proofed my house but they STILL get in!!

I thought of a dancer, too. Rear sync..whatever, motion and often quite fluid as on ice! Tom. Carlos, I care how you think. I might not always agree but that is not the same thing.

Thanks Thomas (TomDart) for your explicit and sincere statement.

Carlos.

Thanks guys and gals for youre answers and sorry to stir up such a debate!! I really appreciate other ideas (opens ones mind). Then again i hadnt thought of ice skating / dancers but petry /fuidity they are indeed!! I suppose if it was raining whilst skating/dancing it would be liquid too!!. (Ie: singing / dancing in the rain ..mmm.. isnt that a song LOL!!!) Not that theres any ice in south of down under at the momment and certauinly none expected in March. Anyway thanks again !!

Don't apologise,LouLouBell...I think debate is a good thing. And what this brought out is the possibilities that the word,'liquid' offers. It never occurred to me to think of it metaphorically...i.e.like a dancer's movements,or even the song of a bird,(I found that on the web...).And as I was reminded by searching it's definition,it also has a financial application as well...so I guess an expensive yacht or car could be called liquid motion...as long as you can 'sell' it,lol. ;^)
