Subject: Trouble with rendering Paradise hair

ElorOnceDark ( ) posted Mon, 06 March 2006 at 1:29 PM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 10:14 AM

I'm trying to do a firefly render with 3Dream's Paradise hair in P6. In the full texture preview window it shows the hair with the transparency, but when I render it, it comes out with the hair having no transparency map applied. I've double checked in the material room, and the trans map is loaded. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Do you have the most recent version of Paradise Hair? I dont have those problems with the new version. Take a look to this link. Peter

Won't updating the hair cause hair textures made by others for the 'original' version to not work? I updated Koz's updo and found that my favourite hair textures by Wenke no longer worked. I ended up going back to the original Updo hair.

In the matroom, on texture image (last line texture strength is probably set to 0 instead of 1.00) Set for all parts and resave to hair library..same name

Well, I'm having trouble with the new version. It shows up in the shaded view as being the correct color, then renders pure white. I'm going to experiment with it a little more before I write to 3Dream about it. When I moved the scene over to Carrara 5, it rendered a THIRD color! Dunno what to make of it. I never had any trouble with the original model. Awesome hair. All of 3Dream's hair models are great. This one may have a few bugs (lice?) that need to be ironed out, however. And, yes. The new version seems to hose any third party textures made for the original. I was kind of expecting that, though. 3Dream mentioned that the new version had a lot more material zones.

Rendering white just means you have to turn the shadows on, he mentions it on the product page. There is a pose for it under the new pose files. And I have found all the old colors and styles to still work with the updated version :-)

Hmm...Peter, I do have the updated version, and I'm using one of the textures he included in the pack. richardson, I think the texture strength is set correctly. I've attached a screen shot.

Ambient set to 1.00 but black. Never saw that hookup before. Usually it's just Trans, trans edge and color to tex. It obviously is just a little teak away...

What does that mean? I'm trying to learn texturing so threads like this are of interest and I hope to learn from them.

Ok, I think I found out why it's not working for me. I went through, and deleted all the Paradise hair files and did a fresh install. It seems to be working now. There might have been some cross-file wackiness!

Acadia, Load any hair and compare to these settings. Plug in Ambient and raise the color to..grey. You;ll see.

The last time I used the Paradise hair in P6 it rendered green with no transparency. I've quit using it for now.
