I've been using the Vue 2 since I got it with Computer Arts magazine and I love it :) What I was wondering though is when will version 4 be comming out? I don't really want to upgrade to 3 and then have to fork out even more cash for all the goodies they will probably be bringing out in 4! Also does anyone have any idea as to what changes they are bringing out with 4? I've tried the demo of 3 and was very impressed at the improved atmospheres, vegatation and render times and I'm practicaly drooling waiting to get my hands on the new one :) If anyone's interested I've just posted a picture in the gallery (see attached link) in which I made the backround in vue 2 and composited a poser scene in photoshop - it worked out ok in the end but I wish I could have rendered it in vue Also I just wanted to say thankyou to Varian and al you others out there (I'm terrible with names) for taking the time to put together your tutorials - they have been invaluble to me in learning this new program :) Alla

Hi Alla, Welcome to Vue! I just got a look at your image, and I really like what you did with it. That tree to the right is paricularly evocative! You're welcome for the tutorials. There are several around. A great place to check for them is right here at Renderosity...follow the link marked "Tutorials" on the right bar, then look at the ones for Vue d'Esprit. Version 4 is currently in beta. There's no official word as to when to expect its release, but my guess would be "soon" -- perhaps as early as April or May, or as late as September. It really all depends on when everything passes inspection. Your freebie included a special upgrade price for 3.1. Owning 3.1 brings a special upgrade price for 4. I imagine that would also apply for going from 2 to 4, so you might want to try to wait and see what happens in the next couple months. (notice I say try -- LOL!) I also began with version 2. I had tried the demo of it for about 20 minutes and was irrevocably hooked. :) Varian

Thanks for the welcome :) And I'm so glad yo like my picture - praise indeed after some of your work that I've seen! I was actually following your advice in one of your tutorials about grouping/turning/streching trees when I made the big oak type one, so thanks again for that :) I think I'll hang on and wait for V4 then, I've got the money sitting in the bank now, and it was either v3 or a new front room carpet (with 3 german shepherds we go through a lot of them LOL) so that'll fit in with my saving up again! Alla
