Will this help you?"It is good to see ourselves as

are, especially the evil side of us.

I think P3DO Explorer will do the job.

Gee Doc, thought you were always a PC type... have you crossed over? ;-) Martin C's converter is one, think its on the "soft-Rabbit" or something or other website. the other utility I know of is one at Poser Pro's calle dthe "PoserMacConv" utility, a $5 type of thing. But then again, this is for Mac type conversion of rsr's to png's. Hope that helps big guy! :-) -jay

I think he paid me a visit and is hiding in my closet. I just spent the better part of 10 minutes trying to fix my dryer dial. I kept trying to set it but noticed the times weren't aligning with the clicking sounds the dial was making when I was turning it. And no matter what set it at it shut off in 10 minutes! Turns out I was looking at the wrong spot on the dial for the time to dry. I was looking at the 12 O'Clock position instead of the fancy little line at the 9 O'Clock position. This is a dryer that I've had and used for 10 years!!!!!!!!!!! LOL Duh!!!!

so, a little leap for a newb here... .rsr is the suffix for the older preview files. in order for poser to show previews i need to convert all of them to .png. a batch convert that will leave the new file in the same directory as the .rsr file would be sweet! as for opening a Runtime folder with Poser 6 and an automatic conversion over ~ i have had no luck with that so far. i just get the little shrugging guy in my library window. X) i will explore the links to files above in hopes of a good app. oh, btw, all of you Win guys really need to consider a mac if you are serious about graphics. the kingdom of pixels is incontestably ruled by the crowned family of apple! !!! say it with me "UNIX BABY" :)
"as for opening a Runtime folder with Poser 6 and an automatic conversion over ~ i have had no luck with that so far. i just get the little shrugging guy in my library window." Means you don't have a .rsr in the folder to convert. All Daz stuff is .rsr most of the time. I just place it in whatever runtime I think it should go into and open P6. I then go back later and delete the .rsr's. P3DO is the better way if you want to convert both ways. I've used it for a few years untill P6.
You can get rid of the shrugging guy by rendering an image of the object/character and then saving it back to the library with the same name. It will write over your old shrugging guy version.
Before they made me they broke the mold!

Yep, You can also render Then goto Display > Paste to background. Move your Main camera towards the background, straight through your figure. Make sure your figure or Prop is selected and save in what ever folder you want. Thats how I save my new creations. PS, that works in all versions of Poser.

smaugthewyrm: The easiest way to create a thumbnail in Poser 5-6 for someone who is new to Poser is like this: 1. Render Dimension: 91x91 (make sure you see what you want to see in the thumbnail in the square that will show up a shade paler in your document window. 2. Render 3. Export IMAGE as png format in the same folder your prop (figure or whatever) is and give it the exact same name. Voil you have your png thumbnail. When you get used to Poser, you'll found your own method of doing this. There are MANY.

I would get P3DO Explorer. It's free and it can convert rsr to png or png to rsr. I bought the pro version for somewhere around $25 but to start with, the free version works great. And you can set it to delete the original files after conversion so you don't have all those RSR you don't need. The pro version lets you browse subfolders which makes the job faster but even the free version can convert all files in one folder.

I missed the part about you working on a MAC. Does P3dO work on a MAC? If it does, you won't regret installing it though. It is amazing all you can do with that little program. I've been using it since I first bought Poser in March 2004 and since last Fall, I installed PRPC and use exclusively P3dO+PRPC when I work in Poser. No more changing Runtime in Poser and waiting 30 seconds or more each time I want something new in my scene. Plus, P3dO lets you see all the referenced files in PZ3 and all Poser files. You'll find it very useful. And, what is a very good plus value, Yarp is very helpful so if you have problem with P3dO or if you don't understand something, you can send him an email and he'll reply. (Yarp is the creator of P3dO) Good luck!

i know this diverges a bit from the thread, but .... with macs now using intel processors, windows will run as a simultaneous boot. http://openosx.com/wintel/ http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/virtualpc/virtualpc.aspx?pid=virtualpc they still have to call it a virtual environment, but becuase the routines seek intel components and find them, there are nearly no delays. so i will have win and unix running on the same monitor when i am done.
