Subject: My anything glows won't glow

estherau ( ) posted Sun, 19 March 2006 at 6:01 AM · edited Thu, 01 August 2024 at 8:04 PM

I know it has been asked before, but I just did a search and couldn't find the answer. I inserted anything glows in my scene and a fire, and then I chose fire as the item to apply the glow to, but there is no glow that I can detect. Love esther

Yeah, here is, I believe the original file someone posted as an example of this. I am changing the extension.

Esther, I didn't see that it worked w/ the fire primitive. Might work with primivol.

It causes the other objects to glow. Not glow directly. Here try this.

You attach aglows to the object. Set the color and it reflects that color to surrounding objects.

AGlows uses the geometry of an object to create a light source. It doesn't make the object 'glow' (you need the glow channel of the shader to do that) but it enables your object to shine light on your scene. The problem you're having with the Fire object is that it doesn't have geometry for AGlows to use. The solution is to use a bulb instead, perhaps with a gel to create better 'firelight'. My version uses an orange bulb with a greyscale gel but a colored gel would perhaps look better.

LoL. Sorry the file didn't work esther. The second file actually looked ok here. It was from a pc, but I don't think that would matter.(The first one I changed the name before uploading, but not the file so it appeared blank.) The aglows w/ fire primitive didn't work and if you stick an object in the fire I din't think it looked right w/ aglows.
