Subject: Creating reflective metal/chrome surface

What is the best way to create a metallic reflective surface in Poser like in the blade of a sword? I tried putting a sphere reflective map in the reflect node but when I try to render it, it just mostly comes out white.

Remember, if there is nothing for the surface to reflect, that's exactly what you'll get. Using chrome in an outdoor scene is always improved by using a skydome prop. Place some scenery behind the camera to add to the realism.

jquin3: what they said plus... Set diffuse and ambient to black (or a very low value). Diffuse (and ambient) values will swamp any reflections. Cheers, Diolma
