Subject: Which Realism?

marvlin ( ) posted Sat, 18 March 2006 at 3:46 PM · edited Wed, 27 November 2024 at 1:57 AM

I am going to invest in one of the realistic skin pakages in the market place.

I generally use V3 & M3 and I am using Poser 6.

I have found:

The unimesh realism kit.

The Real Skin Shader.

Which would be the most suitable for my needs and are there any that are better?

Regards

Marv

for V3 and M3 you need the "Unimesh" version. Victoria and Michael are unimesh figures.

Real skin shader will work for them too. As long as you load a texture first. Marque

V3 with Iola texture and default realskin shader loaded. Marque

Real Skin Shader is cheaper, and works just fine with ALL millenium human figures, Vicky 2 and Vicky3 inclusive. I've used it on some of my gallery images and it does quite well. The Unimesh Realism Kit is better, but works only on DAZ Unimesh figures (e.g. Vicky 3, Micheal 3, Aiko 3). It will NOT work on Vicky 2 or Michael 2, and it's more expensive. Hope this helps.

What does a "skin shader" do? Marque would you mind posting another screenshot of the above image without the "realskin shader"? That will probably be a better way for me to see what exactly it does.

I asked the merchant who makes these the very same question and he recommended the Unimesh realism kit. My main characters that I use are aslo V3 and M3 in Poser 6.

I also bought that one and the one for apollo, bought real skin for all my other characters including miki and koji. The merchant actually shows you how to do it on his site, I just didn't want to do the work so I bought them. Marque

If you want to see the differences he shows them on his site. I'm really impressed with the work that went into these products, he took a lot of time to do these. Marque

Does anyone know whether the Unimesh Realism Kit will work on the backwards compatible "V3 to V2 Cr2 and OBJ" and "M3 to M2 Cr2 and OBJ"...I understand these figures are a hybrid of sorts (utilizing V3 and M3's heads atop their respective gen-2 bodies). I'm guessing not, but wondering whether anyone has tried. Thanks, pdog

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 20 March 2006 at 11:27 AM

Says the selected figure is not a unimesh so I would say the answer is no. Would not run for me. Marque

Well...that's that. Thanks Marque.

No problem, remember you can still use real skin with just about any char that has a texture applied. Marque
