Subject: How do you save point lights to the library?

It is not in the Poser 6 manual or Practical Poser 6 book. They will not save to the light library. They are parented to candles which will not save to the props library either.

Hmm. I just tried it out, and a point light does save and restore properly in the light library. Parenting is still a problem, though; you basically have to save the LT2 and the PP2, then edit the PP2 file to include the light.

It's probably the fact that they're parented that's causing the problem, which I'm assuming is that you want to save the prop and the light together.

The way to do this is to save as a PZ3 and strip out everything but the prop and the light.

OK thanks. I'm on a Mac and don't know how to edit a prop file so I guess I'll just save as a pz3 then. Thanks again.

You just need a text editor.
There's probably a version of emacs for Macs somewhere if whatever editor Apple supply isn't sufficient.

Try this. Download MinFig from the Free Stuff, load MinFig in Poser, parent the candles to MinFig, save MinFig back to a Figures pallet with a new name, say "Candle Lights". The candles and lights should save with MinFig. I haven't tried this with point lights (whatever they are), but it works with infinite and spot lights.

nruddock: Yes I have an editor - what I said was I don't know HOW to edit. lesbentley: I have your MinFig already and have used it and I will try your instructions. Is there a tute around for editing internal names?
