well, i've been trying to get some people to make renders of posters to use as textures. things like concert posters or movie posters and such that can be added to poser scenes. ultimatly I'd like to collect them together and offer them as a freebie from the community to the community want to give that a shot? my final renders are at 1363x2048 (2:3 aspect ratio)

This isn't so much a specific idea/theme, but more of a general approach to creative block: What haven't you done yet, but want to try? A different type of project/image that stretches your creativity in a new way might kickstart your imagination. It might also lead to new ways of working with the type of images you usually create.

Casette ( ) posted Mon, 27 March 2006 at 10:51 AM

You can draw... mmmh... something original... mmmh... like .... Victoria3 ... mmmh, nude... in a... mmmh... temple, with a... with a... ... SWORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D (check the classics to get ideas. Boris Vallejo, Berni Brightson, Frank Frazetta, Luis Royo, Neal Adams. Impossible to watch them and not to have a creative brainstorm)

Quote: check the classics to get ideas. Boris Vallejo, Berni Brightson, Frank Frazetta, Luis Royo, Neal Adams. I have to smile. I'd have thought the "classics" would be Rembrandt Van Rijn, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Titian, Giotto, Peter Paul Reubens... ;-) Reminds me of a comment a friend of mine made in college when talking about someone he'd heard in a band: "Yeah, he's a classically trained musician... The Doors, the Stones, Pink Floyd..." If you want to mix realism with fantasy, history is a good way to do it. Pick a dramatic topic that's easy to google, like "infidelity" or "revenge". Then do a search for it from various historical sources - the bible, Greece and Rome, Shakespeare, the Enlightnement, the 19th century... Literature.org might be a good place to start, followed by Wikipedia. When you get your results back, you'll have a long list of scenes waiting to be visualized and rendered. Pick any one, or make it a series. Of course, having no clothes for anyone does make it a bit more challenging - but not impossible. King David watching Bathsheba? Spartans training for the Olympics? Roman slaves out tending the flocks? Lady Godiva? - Jimdoria ~@>@

Enter a challenge or contest. Here, DAZ, Planit3D, PoserPros...just about every Poser site has challenges or contests. Often with prizes. The contest themes can give you ideas or push you to try something new. And who knows, you might win something!

grylin ( ) posted Mon, 27 March 2006 at 1:28 PM

i have no books.:p but i have ideas now :)

nickedshield ( ) posted Mon, 27 March 2006 at 1:54 PM

Take a part of your local history, use a character wrong for it and make a spoof. I use the Housemouse for that:) It will challenge you, getting clothing to fit, props scaled to the correct proportions.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

Acadia ( ) posted Mon, 27 March 2006 at 2:38 PM

Watch LoTR and be inspired! hehe Search the internt. There are lots and lots of images on there that can inspire you. Go out of your comfort zone and do a render of an image not usually in your genre. Learn something new in poser. IE: a from scratch pose if you only use premade; IBL lights; Make something in the setup room....etc.

If ya really want to get kinky... Go through the gallery. Find some image that strikes you but doesn't live up to the potential you see in it. Re-create it but make it 'right.' Obviously you could use what ever character you wanted to instead of the one(s) in the original, and I would probably never mention which image it was.

That's the problem Sam, she's run out of nude ideas and is stuck with old ones. We're trying to help her think of nude ideas. Or maybe gnu ideas?

Up a few threads there's one called "Nudity Over Kill." someone posted: Do you see a naked chick in the gallery making dinner? Or ironing? or swimming? or working on the computer? or being a Grace or a Muse with all the attributes of the status? :) No Maybe you could do a nude gnu making dinner in a swimming pool while a nude newt surfs the computer looking for ironing boards. Both could be inspired by a muse. Or amused by a spire?

Start with the cliche ideas and don't do those. There are too many fantasy/ fairy/ nude images. There are too many "look, there's a person standing there" images. Instead, be creative. Do something that no one else has done. I have a page on my site about using Poser for artwork. The second half of the page lists all kinds of genres and may get your creative juices flowing. --John

Please, please, please no more single women portraits with sultry looks in seductive poses. I think we have several million of these already. (No offense meant to any artists). How about multi-figure scenes in life-like environments that reflect an aspect of everyday life? Humourous or poiniant. Only an idea.

Ganthor ( ) posted Mon, 27 March 2006 at 6:30 PM

Don't read books. Don't watch tv or movies. Don't look at other artists. Turn off your computer. Get up and go outside into the great unwashed sea of humanity. Watch. If somebody, anybody, can't get one useful idea from that, then the problem runs much deeper...

I think Casette and Sam are on the right track. However if you really wanna be creative then why don't you render a naked Lara in front of a temple?

very often ill realise I havent checked out the freestuff here for 2 or 3 days. Ill surf, see some great new freebie, and sometimes immediatly get a whole scene idea just to incorporate the freebie in. This I think is one of the best part about new freebies for old chars. I love getting something that gives me an immediate incentive to dust off M1 or Steph 1 etc.

Sometimes when I'm looking for inspiration I turn to music. I'll throw on a movie soundtrack or some classical music for example and let the music inspire me. You can use any kind of music that appeals to you. Turn up the volume or throw on some headphones, close your eyes and let the music paint some pictures in your mind.

It's all fun and games...
