THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: OT-G.A. Meeting (Geeks Anonymous)

Hi; my name is John and I'm a geek. Tuesday I bought the Special Edition DVDs of Peter Jackson's King Kong because I haven't seen the movie. So far I've watched most of the technical special documentaries, but still haven't seen the movie. Today I got some more DVDs that I had ordered: The Complete Monty Python TV series (all 45 shows + in one package), and two collections of Mystery Science Theater 3000. I'm so pathetic. (Sob) John

This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

Do titles like Barron Munchausen, Tank Girl, and Wizards appear in your collection? Do you have a complete run of Zena or anything produced by Fireworks CanWest such as The Lost World, Jack of all Trades, Cleopatra 2525? If so you might be an UberGeek! (Awaiting the New Doctor Who to start this spring because I've already seen the season they are showing on SciFi;-)

pakled ( ) posted Thu, 30 March 2006 at 4:43 PM

MOVIE SIGN..;) hey, at least you didn't Model Tom Servo, Crow, and the Satellite of Love..;)
I never could find Cleopatra 2525 on when I had time. But I have taped all of TOS, TNG, Voyager,Enterprise..a few Bab 5's, some DS9, I think that's Geek cred..;)

Hello John,..........I got the same DVD on Tuesday when it came out and so far I've watched the movie 6 times and the special features disc twice. Isn't Kong a handsome fellow ? But then again, I own Blackhawk Down and have watched it 73 times,........I know most of the dialog word for word,.....huaghh !

Hi I'm Frank and I'm a hopeless GEEK with no plans of quitting the geekeness. I've seen all the sci fi I could cram into my brain since birth and played with all the graphics software I could cram into my brain since there's been home computers. All the while reading science articals and even worked in a lab, using test tubes, bunsen burners, flasks, and everthing. Now I have an online software sales Business. Yep, Geek Until Death.

@Dann-o; I can go you 1 better. I have the complete DS9 on VIDEO. I programmed my laptop to play "DEAL OR NO DEAL" in excel. I have an original C3PO Toy. I have watched the complete Lord of the Rings extended DVD's in one session. 10 Hrs 55 Mins sans credits. With the Directors commentary running. I have Max, Blender, Realsoft3d, on my comp, but do all my modelling in Wings 3d. I have built 17 computers in the last 4 years, 3 of them my own. I have enough parts under the house to build 3 more. I don't actually consider myself a geek. Just culturely diversified.

You might be an uber geek if; You noticed that the phrase used by Bruce Campbell to bind the Necronomicon in Evil Dead is the same one used to call the robot in The Day The Earth Stood Still. (Gort! Klaatu Barada nicto) That "No matter where you go, there you are" was said in Beyond Thunderdome and Buckaroo Banzai. That Princess Aura in Flash Gordon had a pet named Fellini and that the head of the head of the nightstalkers in Escape from New York was named Romero. Both of these were done as tributes by the films directors.

Dann-O ( ) posted Sat, 01 April 2006 at 7:52 AM

Or how about the name of the resturaunt in monsters inc was Harryhausens;^)

uh oh..2 out of 3..;) (Didn't know the Flash Gordon one..;)
however..if you can look at the Cross-section of the Enterprise D, and find the duck, the airplane, and the porsche, or recoginze the Oscillation Overthruster in one of the TNG episodes..you might be a redn..er, geek..yeah..that's right
Saw part of a 3-hour lecture by Kevin Smith (Clerks, Dogman, etc on TV last night, and had forgotten the origin of 'geek' was someone in a sideshow who bit the heads off chickens..Ozzie, it's time for your closeup..;)

Funny you should mention that. Here (China) when you order a Chicken well that part is included. I usually refrain. (I am an ex pat after all) Ozzie does bats...must be a new word there somewhere.

Don't tell Drac that Ozzy does bats! Drac! It's what's for Dinner! Drac! The other red meat!

Dann-O ( ) posted Sun, 02 April 2006 at 6:30 AM

Hmm well about doing heads with beef. I have not seen it but I would bet they do somewhere.( remember a goat in the middle east one time better not) Anything that grows flies walks and swims is fair game. I have seen vendors selling barbeque scorpions and baby songbirds on a stick.
