Subject: Newbie question - importing

Hi

I've got Vue 5 but haven't used it much (steep learning curve lol). I mainly work with Daz Studio, and would just like to know how you can, if possible, import Poser stuff, eg characters like V3, or scenes made in D|S into Vue to be able to then add lighting or scenery etc.

Also, could anyone recommend some good tutorials. I've never got past the basic one that you get with Vue.

All you have to do is save your file as a .pz3 that you created in Poser, close the application (Poser), open Vue and import .pz3, if you have never done it before, you will have to point Vue to the poser.exe (and it will ask during import)and is should all show up. Sharen PS: glad to be back

Thanks for your reply. I don't actually have Poser though. I use poser objects etc in Daz Studio, so all the files are in runtime folders - lebraries, geometries etc. I've just managed to import a scene obj. file by copying the file into the Vue architecture folder, but it doesn't have any textures on. So where would I put the texture files/maps etc, and where would I put pz3,pp2 files etc (ie all the ones that come with Poser objects and stuff). Like I said, steep learning curve for me :)

Well, I don't think Vue will import .pz4 unless you have Poser. If you save it as an object, you can apply your materials (textures) through the materials box. It will take you awhile if it is a model with alot of textures. You would import your object, then select materials, then select the material you need to apply the texture. Sharen

Thanks. I'll just have to play with the objects already in Vue (which I've just discovered lol):)

When you export your file in DS, export it for Bryce and make sure the last two boxes (collect maps and convert maps for Bryce) are checked. This will export the item as an obj file which you can then import into VUE. When Vue asks for the location of the maps simply click your way to the maps folder that DS created----usually on the desktop. I hope this helps you. G&C

I managed to export V3 from D|S with the textures, exporting for Bryce as suggested - this worked fine, but she looks awful - nothing like V3 does in D|S. the face looks different and the hair looks like a solid wig (lol). How can I fix this?

What are the formats that you can export out of Daz? Sharen
