I know it is OT from photography....but it is probably going to help us all get some stuff we like..Maybe LOL Post things you notice or things that you think should be requested. We can weed through it and bring it up in the coord froum. I would like colour themes.

I was just wondering wouldn't it be cool you have a link that took u directly to a person's gallery or homepage on RR? PS sorry Doug I couldn't resist

3DGuy ( ) posted Wed, 05 April 2006 at 7:28 AM

Why doesn't it automatically convert smilies like :) and :( and ;) All other forums I visit do that.

In this format, the smilies need to be in between colons Rinze. :m_confused2: Vanessa, I think that would be a great idea for a link directly to a person's gallery or homepage. :m_thumbu: I personally like :m_smile: the colors -- I always used the default RR off-white. But I can see how some people might get seared retnas. :m_laugh: The biggest thing for me was subscribing to a thread and getting a TON of emails for every time someone posted a message. :m_angry: The previous method of one email for the first time someone replied was much more inbox friendly, if you know what I mean. I hope there is something that they can do to implement that. If not, I'll have to never subscribe to a thread or my inbox would be filled to the brim. I hope I don't have to go that route. :m_think: Other than that, I think things are looking pretty good now that I know that you can still see full sized images by clicking on them. Tell the boys in the back room they did a bang-up job! :b_cool:

How annoying! :( typing ๐Ÿ˜„ instead of :) is crooked.
So far I think I like phpBB forums better. I wonder why bondware was chosen. I hope they'll add a conversion thing automatically parses all regular smilies like :) :( ;) :P :9 >:)

Also too bad it doesn't include the name of the person you're quoting when you press 'quote'.

No Whine for me Please, I'm a Waterman (aquarius) :m_tongue2: One little thing I miss though: in the old forum we could see if an image was posted to a thread, before opening that thread. I guess there's nooooo way to see that now, right? Else I'm admiring and learning with eyes full of wonder :m_bouncy:

I'm an Aquarius too...and there is water in whine so hit me! :tongue1: I have seen a few people mention the problem of signing in and out. It did it once and haven't had to since? I'm guessing it is a browser related issue??? ๐Ÿ˜•

one thing I noticed, when somthing new is posted to a thread it dosnt move up to the top, keeping the popular threads in motion and we dont have to keep making new ones for WoE, or monthly challenge to get them to the top....๐Ÿ˜„ edit: oh yeah a back to the gallery link would be good to..

Dynazty ( ) posted Wed, 05 April 2006 at 4:52 PM

never mind the gallery link I found it at the top banner...d-oh!

3DGuy ( ) posted Wed, 05 April 2006 at 5:32 PM ยท edited Wed, 05 April 2006 at 5:38 PM

I'm with Dynazty. Active topics should bubble to the top. i.e. the forum needs to be sorted on the last posted message, not on the 1st in a thread. I've also notices the read/unread post thingie doesn't work. I always get the unread post star.. even if I'm the last one that posted in a thread and visited again.

From Admin "We completely understand how you feel about the standardized forum colors. The look of the new forums will take some getting used to. It was fun that we used to be able to change colors with the old EZ format. But, the new PHP platform will give us a wider range of features in the long run. Unfortunately, customized colors are not one of those options at this time."

DJB ( ) posted Wed, 05 April 2006 at 10:03 PM

Arghhhh What about it eh...I really think that we need at least one sticky thread to have OT stuff like jokes or funny stuff that may have happened to us. Anyone else think so. If it is all in one sticky thread, at least the orum will not be full of them all over. Let me know the thoughts.

I like it, I'm a open mind, but ya gota be careful about the jokes ya know, not all are a open mind...๐Ÿ˜‰ Edit; What about making a sticky for WoE?

UKmac ( ) posted Wed, 05 April 2006 at 11:08 PM

Just a small thing, all the threads show that I've read them, but I haven't. It's a bit of a pain trying to go back and try to find which threads I haven't read. Hence so what is the point of having the stars if they don't work!!! Steve

Margana ( ) posted Wed, 05 April 2006 at 11:14 PM

I would definately think an OT thread would be good,if it's going to real strict around here from now on.I've been wondering about that,actually...wondering just how strictly observed that will be.

The reading and marking of threads is an issue. I guess you just have to use the mark all threads read at end of night. It is confusing me too,and know I have missed some. But the stars only go out when you use the mark all read. Yeah OT thing would be good.

The phpBB boards are def a step up see www.ecr.co.za - speak easy link if you don't know what I mean. They've got profile read/unread tracking to the post/reply and lots of cool links plus karma - hee hee hee who's been a bad boy! I like the white, no problems when I look in the mirror here... :b_funny: I think the upgrades are fantastic - rome wasn't built in a day - a couple of hundred years actually so scale that down here in the modern times to like 3 months maybe ๐Ÿ˜‰ I like the fact that the reply box is available right here no clicking and reloading, I like the small pic, click to big pic thing, less load time for the thread. But I would like some more options for each user, profiles, homepage, gallery, karma, funny status names based on number of posts and the links at the top are kinda ancient compared to this nice new php board. I know it's a site thing but like I say - 3 months...

An OT thread gets my vote. Also, Marlene and I have noticed how hard it is to keep track of everything. It is not easy to see when a thread was last commented on, etc. I am sure we'll get used to it eventually, but it is not as user friendly in that regard in my opinion. I personally would love it if the threads ordered themselves by the most recently posted or commented in, but I don't think that would go over too well. One can always hope though. ๐Ÿ˜‰

About that sorting on last post. I just noticed the link that does just that :) If you look at the forum, on the top right it says how many pages there are. Right next to it on the left is a link saying "sort by post date". I completely missed that. Now there just needs to be an option in the prefs to make that default.

yep, I can live with the changes but my BIGGEST GRIPE is getting all the ebots everytime someone posts a forum comment even though I never posted in that thread. I've now deleted all the "Notify" check marks...hope we can get back to thread specific ebots. Whine & Cheeeeese please! BTW, I've checked the "Notify me when someone replies" box so hope this actually works right! Don't ya love a good challenge!!
