I must say these forums load quick 😄 no time to sit back now and have a :m_cigar::m_angry: CD (looking around monitor to see what is posted)

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

Teething problems aside, this new-look forum (well, standardised, let's face it) is a welcome change. The avatars are a fun addition and seeing tallied posting values next to threads as opposed to needlessly long lists of replies below has allowed for quick and efficient forum searching. The only noticeable irk that strikes me with the new layout is the lack of adequate spacing between individual replies. Also, on the main forum page where the threads are listed, I would like to see on display the critical time and date when the thread was first created. Other than that, great work. Looking forward to the further enhancements to come. Drekinn

It really helps when you get into a long message string. You posted somewhere on page 5 (or was it 6?) and it's now at 9. It is one of the things I find really useful from CGTalk.

I'm curious how people keep getting a "white screen". Mine is alternating; Pale-Blue/Pale-Beige/Pale-Blue/Pale-Beige/... I'm just wondering if some folk may have their Brightness/Contrast set-up a bit extreme or something. Len.

AS, Oh, so the inability to either See (and therefore copy and Paste) the link's address or the ability to "Open in new Tab" is a bug???!!! Fantastic! (since that means there's a change it can be fixed) By the way, I do NOT envy you your task of replying to all the angry, upset, depressed, fed-up and otherwise miffed posts from unsettled Rosity forumites and would therefore like to say... thanks a million, I'm sorry if (when) I get miffed in any way, and brilliantly cool work AS. Oh and one other thing... how come your test of the smilies resulted in a massively huge smilie, while all I got was a little didgy one? Just wondering... "that I wanted the link to take me to the LAST page of the thread, instead of the FIRST." YES! I vote for that too. And I agree with Erlik here: "What they NEED to do is: 1) Give me back my black background! " only in #6666FF purple! I know, I know, we have to wait... (sigh) I'm also not keen on the change of avatar replacing all past avatars... would be nicer if the new avatar only appeared in posts made after the change unless we click on (change all avatars to this new one Y? N?) Just a thought...

AS, I would say that the ebots do not need to have " Someone has posted to the Bryce forum on ... " since as you can see in my hotmail most of the message runs off the visible part of the display, something shorter would be better, like "New post in Bryce: Message Title" or "Reply in Bryce to: Message Title" so that we can see (once again) what the subject is. Just a suggestion.

Black = #000000 (The numbers represent hexadecimal RGB values. 1st 2 digits are red, 2nd 2 are green, last 2 are blue. You count hexadecimal as; 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,A,B,C,D,E,F. So after F (or 0F in this case, as we count with 2 digits at once) comes 11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,1A,1B etc. till ur at FF which is the maximum value.)

Enabling the "Notify me when someone replies" checkbox on a message does indeed notify you, but proceeds to do so for every single person that replies, when in fact it should only notify you once, up until you visit the message link, whereupon the notification process should recommence. I believe this system was standard with the former forum regime and am sure most will agree that this feature should be reinstated to avoid the unnecessary cluttering of mailboxes. In addition, has anyone noticed that the current server time is missing from the top of the forum pages! :scared:

I have discovered one drawback, now that the forums are on the marketplace server so explicitly, we are flagged/banned from access rendo from work. Too much nudity in the martketplace.

We have submitted that problem to the Admins/Programmers, since another member had their "net nanny" program now flaggigng the forums. Hopefully they can do something about it!

Suggestion for this one "Shorted messages in the ebots" -yup, that's the staff's suggestion also. Most people average a monitor at 1024x768, and the messages are just too long. "Reply in Bryce to: Message Title" - I like that one, myself ;o)" I use a program called MailWasher(free) it is used for spam mail but i can open e-bots in it and click on the links. I find that the size of the e-bots are fine in that.. Oh on another note, i use it to check out all emails i get and believe me its stopped 1000s of spam mail for me..

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

You were?  I didn't see you asking me anywhere.

Well I don't know what the staff are using that I'm not, since I'm using Firefox and Tabbed browsing and my problems are as described before;
The address is no longer visible in the opened ebot as it used to be - old style Rosity - so I have to right click on the beastly little "here" then click on Properties, then I have to enlarge the box that pops up so I can copy the thread ID number - then I have to open a new tab, find rosity, open a forum, open a thread inside that forum, so that I can copy the stupid number into the place in the address bar where the thread ID number for the thread I picked out of the blue, just in order to get to the thread in the Ebot in my hotmail....

Now if the address was visible in the ebot - like it used to be - then I could just paste the address into the new tab and bingo, I get to the thread in one step instead of 77

Rosity PHP is now the only site that I visit regularly that doesn't have the address showing in the ebot...

Now if the address was visible in the ebot AND gave you the option to "Open in new tab" I'd almost be in 7th heaven.  Since that would even be an improvement on the old style Rosity. 

But I'll cope with a return to old useability, if improvement isn't a posibility.

Great to know those oddities I mentioned earlier will be addressed in due course.
Just a few other concerns, which may or may not have been raised already by others:-

  1. Active threads truly need to be sent to the top of the forum, otherwise ongoing threads (such as this one) will be buried forever and unacknowledged by the rest of the community. At the least, an option should be made available for this to occur.

  2. The member's name and avatar should be active links (as per the old forum) that take you to their respective information page (the one with links to their gallery, favourite artists, images etc). I notice the new 'profile' link located at the base of each member's thread reply seems only to take you to the Send IM page.
    :blink:

  3. The new-look forum appears decidedly slender upon my 1600x1200 monitor - only half the total screen width, in fact - and so I was wondering what specific jiggery-pokery is required in the CSS setup to allow for a display of more pleasingly plumper proportions.

-That's exactly what its doing for me. In fact it is automatically doing it.

-I'm assuming they will be. That's a no-brainer, so we can have that connection back to the rest of the site.

-Easy css fix for that - Enter the following as the top line in the "My Style" box;

table {width:100%;}

Then press "Save Changes".

Should resolve the page width issue.

I've just realised what's been causing my browser to behave erratically when loading forum pages: the recent addition of the text formatting tools located above editable text areas. When it comes time to display said tool bars, Netscape seems to momentarily freeze up, then flicker wildly any open windows in a kind of electronic seizure.
Could we please then introduce an option to disable these troublesome tools?

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

There are still bugs with the toolbar, the programmers are playing around with it.

actually have seen a couple of  small glitches. Moz doesn't seem to know how to draw it  until enough has downloaded and it hangs waiting. Note that this is not an expert opinion. I don't think  it is entirely cache related.

Now this is wonderful! It will takeup some of Rosity's Bandwidth and and server space, but the possiblities for the forum to generate activity has just increased 10 fold, eh?

Well thank you for that support, guys!

I am actualy serious. Whenever I log in to this forum via an e-bot, AOL crashes. It's not funny or even mildly amusing. Guess I'll just go over ASs head and ask Bondware if there is a problem.

I've been with AOL for several years now and I have to say they've treated me very well and have just doubled my broadband connection speed for free.

I was just joking, sorry for the offense. Guess I'm getting plucky from being everybody's php punching bag as of late.

I just recently and finally got a friend of mine of of AOL. His computer has been mysteriously ill for 3+ years. Once he dumped AOL, no more problems whatesoever. Now...I just got get my brother...and sister off of it, lol.

(I used to be a HUGE AOL'er for years. Now, you couldn't pay me to sit and use it on a pc that wasn't even mine)

Anyway...my bad memeories aside, I had posted up your problems to the staff, along with everybody elses. My apologies for the missplaced joke.

I think ther is something different about the way AOLdoes stuff  but I'm not sure what. Check with other PHP sites you might run into some explaination of what settings to tweak. I know I read something about it on one or more sites

When I type enter I sometimes get a double linefeed. Not critical - something to note for later
