LOL.. So, first question...is there a way to organize your sky presets...I mean, I have user blank files that I can create new things for...but nothing for the sky? Second...what is the best terrain file to use if you want closes up of ground and do you use terrains for that or no?...what I am doing is NOT working. sighs Any suggestions of good freebie stuff? Im poor. pouts

Yup, just create your own sub-folders in the relevant preset folder. 😉 Quote - "what is the best terrain file to use if you want closes up of ground..."

Sorry, I haven't a clue what you're getting at with that one. Len.

Okay, so in my presets, I have leaves, materials, objects... so I just create one sky right? put them in there, but then...how do I upload them? bear with me here...treat me like I am two. :) For the terrains, when you do like ground cover...I am just using the terrain mats...but they look horrible... If I want it to look like..grassy hills...I cant seem to find something that doesnt look like swirls or marble when its close up...make sense?

I've just looked at my Bryce, and I slipped up a bit. It seems you can't organize "Sky" presets, but you can do so with "Material" presets - sorry. That doesn't stop you adding your own to the built-in organizer though. Regarding where to upload presets; simply copy them to the folder they belong in (IE: copy a 'material' preset to the material presets folder. Then, you can access it by clicking the small triangle in the preset-manager in Bryce). As for the type of material suitable for ground, it sounds as if you're not aware you can change the catagory from say, marble to glass to whatever... Of course, if you can't find what you're looking for, you would use the material editor to create one of your own  Len.

There's lots and lots of good freebie stuff available, both models and materials. Photo textures are good for close-ups too. I have a huge list of freestuff sites - if you IM me your email address, I can send it to you. Or come chat with us at RenderGods.com, that can often be a faster way to find answers than here 😄

@lzy724, in answer to your question on organising skies. You can do it if you go about it like i did. I loaded skies into bryce then exported all the skies which looked to be fantasy skies(deleting old ones as i went) then i re-imported the skies.. Doing it that way may seem long and tedious but its better in the long run when looking for a skie.. In order my skies are, normal day, night time, stormy day time, stormy night time, fantasy day, fantasy night and those i have tweaked myself..all up i have 67 skies in my sky preset.. PS: i forgot to inform you that i no longer use bryce for anything else but background images now..most of the things you get in bryce when installed are gone..

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

zescanner ( ) posted Thu, 06 April 2006 at 1:10 AM

CrazyDawg, what DO you use for your artwork these days? Out of curiosity, I went to look at your gallery but there isn't one here. I wanted to see what you had found to use instead of Bryce.

CrazyDawg ( ) posted Thu, 06 April 2006 at 1:16 AM

zescanner you wont find any of my art work on here, i no longer post images on here and if i do post any on other sites they are few if any. I have gone to using Daz Studio and i'm learning how to use VUE.. CD (Waiting for the backlash from a few )

@lindens Yeah I know, I was surprised myself when I checked my Bryce. Can't see the point in not allowing it like they do with materials  Hopefully - Bryce6. Len.

Rayraz, what does SHE think of YOU having her image here as your avatar? (But...I suppose she doesn't know it is here.)

TheBryster ( ) posted Thu, 06 April 2006 at 8:19 PM

Ze: Ray's avatar is Viv Tyler of Armagedon and LOTR fame...

@bryster; My avatar is not Viv Tyler! lol I think you mean it's Liv Tyler, but it's not Liv Tyler either haha. It's Lauren Lee Smith! @Zescanner; She's used to seeing me using her photo as my avatars or forum banners and such.

LOL - I thought it was Liv Tyler as well  I thought she looked a 'bit' different, but then I put that down to a 'trick of the lens' as they say. I agree though, very nice - she really ought to be a model. :tt2: Len. (Yeah, you knew I was gonna do that)
