 I've recently purchased Poser 6.0.. I'm hoping I posted this in the corect place..? I'm in need of beginner tutorials for this version of poser.. All I could find were tutorials for version 4 and other versions .. but nothing for version 6.. does everyone prefer version 4? My head is full of so many Ideas.. I just need a few tutorials to help me get started.. thanks in advance Raymond Worrilow www.myshutter.com

Attached Link: Links to (most of) Dr Geep's Tuts ... ;=] ... & Happy New Year !!! ...

There are all manner of tutorials for P6 here, in the forums... but you might have to search for them, as not all will have 'tutorial' in the title. I can recommend Dr Geep's tutorials very strongly - go to the above link to see what's on offer there, and see what else is on offer just by typing 'geep' into the search engine here. Also, don't worry about P4/P6... most of the stuff is backwards compatible, so what's good for 4 still works in 6... you just get more options available with each new release... :) Hope this helps. jonthecelt

Yup, you posted in the correct place:-) What jonthecelt said is correct (although I'd suggest you quickly load the whole lot down on to HD, before the link stops working due to the very recent change to the forums).. Personally I prefer P6 (never had P4, so can't really compare). Did have P3 tho. No comparison. P6 has a lot of advances over P4, but as might be expected they a: require extra resources (more memory is the prime example) and b: need to be used and practised with before they become useful.. Almost any tutorials you can find for P5 will also work with P6. P6 is what P5 should have been.. Can't help much more than that I'm afraid (especially 'cos it's gone my bedtime...) Cheers, Diolma

Attached Link: Poser 6 Revealed

This book is even cheaper (because it has no software), but it will also get you up and running quickly. Both books are available in bookstores, too. -jjsemp

i had a good look at both these books in the bookstore last month (i spent more than an hour browing through both). practical poser 6 is a very good book (i bought it), while poser 6 revealed sucks dead warthogs through a thin straw, IMO. i don't know who their target audience is, since it's basically just a rehash of the documentation, proceeding at a pace that would bore a snail to tears. don't waste your money, unless you need to have tabs and buttons explained to you despite them being clearly labelled with their functions. it reveals such stunning things about poser as a full description of what you see when you switch to one of the rooms -- maybe blind people would find that useful? i didn't. no, definitely go for practical poser 6. it takes you through each setting, explains what the setting does, and when you might or might not want to use a particular option. it doesn't just offer a rehash of every basic tutorial on the web, but it also shows you specific details about trouble spots, and how to work around them. it teaches you how to achieve a realistic, natural pose, not the usual stiff-limbed display of newbies. and much, much more -- all of it in very clear language, and well-organized. it is not just the best book about poser i have seen, but one of the very best application guides, period. it is well worth the price.
