Subject: Anyone is happening the same???

Casette ( ) posted Wed, 05 April 2006 at 3:22 PM · edited Fri, 14 February 2025 at 2:04 AM

Hi folks Usually I had checked in the previous forum the "notify by email" in all the forum. So I was receivingemails with each new thread posted or each new response. Now I'M SURE I've checked it again, but I don't receive anything It's only me or it's happening to more people??? (oh, and... sometimes it can't open the smiley window) :(

This has happened to most everyone as far as I can tell. There are a number of posts on it in the Community Forum. Apparantly if you start a thread it automatically sends you ebots. If you merely post to a thread, it doesn't send you ebots unless you check the "Notify me when someone replies" checkbox below the Reply entry field. The programmers are trying to set it up so it replys automatically like it used to but haven't got it done yet.

On the contrary... I'm getting a new ebot every time someone is replying to a thread I've marked with Notify me when someone replies. I get an ebot at EACH reply, regardless of whether I've visited it in the meantime or not :m_think: And.. I've just left the smiley window open...

This must by far be the slowest site I've seen, since the changeover. Before I could live with it, sometimes it was good, now its terrible.

They may have it fixed now. I just replyed to a new thread in another forum and it came up automatically with the "notify..." checked.

For me its more random than that. I've checked the following forums Poser, Bryce, 3DSMax in my profile. I get every New post from Poser but not from Bryce or 3DS Max. When I check the "Notify me when someone replies" it only works for Bryce and 3DS Max and not Poser. As for site speed. I imagine there is an inordinate amount of posts as people are posting like crazy.

They may have to change it forum by forum????? The site's been working for me fairly quickly today but every now and then there are hiccups. Between posts and repairs that's probably to be expected.

I tried to disable the "notify" option, but it keeps checking the "notify" box anyway, ignoring my profile preference.:woot: but perhaps the site is slow due to all those crazy animated avatars and smilies  :b_tonguewink:

I like Snape, I just wish that J. W. Rawlings hadn't had him kill Dumbledoor in the latest book. But then I like Rickman's Snape better than the original. The personna that he portrays is much more suave than anything that Rawlings delineated. And... does naybody know how to stop this flood of ebots? My mailbox is overloaded. David P. Hoadley

With the ebots, I'm finding that I can just look down the list of subject lines, check off the duplicates (different postings to same threads) and delete all but one.

Is there anyone of a like mind as mine, who thinks that while the new forum is slicker, the old forum was BETTER? DPH PS: 'There was a young man from Hull; Who died in the spring in the fall; T'would have been a sad thing, if he'd died in the spring; But he didn't, he died in the fall!

I haven't drawn any conclusions yet because I perceive this present forum as a WIP. There is tremendous potential in where they could go with it. I know a number of features they don't have (yet) that can be done with PHP so I'm not sure how this will end up. Until I've got a sense that I'm looking at a 'final' version I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

I'm with Bobasaur, and I have no idea what PHP can do.

Not only the forums, but the marketplace as well. It took 10 seconds for the store to even start responding to a next page request, and then it took 19 seconds for the page to load with 30 items on it.
