Subject: Where do you get your models?

RyanSpaulding ( ) posted Fri, 07 April 2006 at 8:45 AM · edited Wed, 15 January 2025 at 4:56 AM

Since the backroom's model section seems to be dead, where does everyone get their models from? Free or pay. I'm looking to create an updated list of this for everyone (and me). Links for plants, autos, animals, people...all for anything importable into Vue...so we can have poser links, links to 3ds sites, ect. Help is greatly appreciated and I'll make sure to keep it current (not that agiel didn't...dude just seems to have a lot on his plate).

I'd also do a search but the new search is simply inferior to the old and I'm not getting the results I wanted with it. I know this topic has been touched on many many times.

I often go to bantam3d.com to get their latest model they generously offer and I also surf to scifi3d.com and Planit3D.com for some extra objects.

Here are a few suggestions - in no particular order: http://toucan.web.infoseek.co.jp/3DCG/3ds/FlowerModelsE.html http://www.baument.com/archives.html http://www.axeman3d.com/models.htm http://www.3dxtra.net/ http://www.rodluc.com/ http://www.vanishingpoint.biz/freestuff.asp and not forgetting of course: http://scifi3d.theforce.net/ Hope this helps. The backroom link works fine for me. What I have found to work is once you are in the forums, click on freestuff, go back to the forums then click on backroom. It sounds strange but it works and gets me to the backroom.

No, what I'm saying is the links were old and many were dead in the backroom anyways.

We have posted a lot of free models on our site (www.expandingwave.com) and will convert any of our models that are for sale there to any version of Vue. I'll be away for the next 30 days, but then will have quite a lot of free models to add to the site starting in late May.

By the way, I'm also posting a lot of my models at Cornucopia3d at drastic discounts for the Vue community. (Discounts as in prices less than $1.00, hovering around $1.00, or a little more for complex things.)

Just an FYI that I've added all links mentioned (minus one). Definitely some pretty good resources. I'm inludind a small description of each link too so that we dont blindly walk into the links (I hate doing that). Keep em comin if possible. Ryan VueRealism.Com (WIP)
