Since some won't be able to pick out that thread from all of the spam in this forum, here is how you do that: 1. Click on "My Options"; 2. Locate the large box below where you add your Avatar; 3. Just below that box is a line that states "Click here to show/hide the default CSS setup". Click that; 4. Highlight ALL of the text. Right Click. Pick "Copy"; 5. Paste what you copied in the large box immediately above; 6. Now you are set to edit the lines; 7. Find the line that you want to edit, make the changes; 8. When done click "Save Changes" just below the text box.

Well, I made the change as specified but it doesn't seem to have made any difference at all to how the forum displays. I still see the banner and the banner box. Do you have to wait a while for the change to go through or something?

Okay guess I'm going to have to break down and reply to this thread. I'm really surprised y'all haven't figured it out by now. Because of the fact that forum banners contain pertinent information that could be necessary for users to read, we have disabled the use of "display", "left" and "right" in the CSS box. Sorry

Sure there is. Renderosity is a business. They don't get anything for the forums. Their revenue comes from the MP and the money that people pay for extra services on the site. If they allowed you to remove that box at the top, you wouldn't be able to see this: Checkout the Renderosity MarketPlace - Your source for digital art content! They want you to buy in their store.

Well.....having that box up there isnt going to make me buy from the store anyway. If there is something I want, I know where the store is..so guess it can stay..and I will keep scrolling down as I always have done...~shrugs~ not really a biggie to me :)

You must think we are stupid. I figured this out the moment it happened. What I wasn't prepared to do was accuse someone of doing exactly this, if by chance it wasn't true. I hoped that you would come clean and admit it - which you have, thank you. In any case, there is nothing relevant in that box and never has been. It's just wasted space.

Can it at least be made smaller? AOM and MOM are on the front page, why do they have to be listed in the forum banner space too? I know it's an honour, but front page is a mighty high honour and should suffice :)

smaller would be good. since on a 1280x1024 screen the logo, top banner, top menu, 2nd menu, banner, misc crap, 3 menu + boxes etc that go with all this, takes up most of the damned screen. (screenshot as proof on request) THEN you get to the threads / thread in question. do we need Three (count them!) menus? do we need line after line of text telling us minor stuff seperated by blank space?
Nicholas, Thanks for taking the time out to respond to this thread. I know you were just doing what you were told - and that's fine. What isn't fine, IMHO, is the way things are sometimes done around here. When I posted my original message about this, it would have been easy for an admin to make the point that this wasn't permitted, for whatever reason, so the facility would be disabled. Instead, it's done on the sly, presumably in the hope that it won't be noticed. In the same way, a similar thread in the Poser forum has, as far as I can see, just been deleted - no notice, nothing, just gone. This all leaves a nasty taste. I'm not about to make silly threats such as 'I'm leaving' or similar, because I'd miss the store here, and it's hardly fair on the merchants. But I, and others, spend a lot of money here, and a little more respect for members/customers on the part of the admins would not come amiss. Again, this is not aimed at you personally - you're just in the firing line!

If, like me, you're fed up with the forum banner occupying a big slice of your screen real estate, you can get rid of it by editing the CSS used for the forum. To do this, you need to edit the CSS rules, but there is a long thread below this one which shows how to do that, so I won't repeat it here. To get rid of the banner, you need to find the line which by default reads: #forum_announcement { border:2px solid #404040; } And change it to: #forum_announcement { border:2px solid #404040; display: none;} It's the 'display: none' rule which kills the banner. Hope that helps!
