Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 07 11:07 am)
Sorry to hear you paid for an overpriced G4 when you could have bought two exceptional PCs for the same money, that can do more and have about twice the software available for them ... like Mimic. Sorry, but you started it. ;-) Anyway, your "real machine" should be able to use the files that Mimic creates. It just creates pose files. Just take the pose files and put them into your choice of pose library (directory) and your done. Have fun.
See the posting on 2/21/01, its a few pages back though. I hope the G4 is still around somewhere. A software desk accessory costing some pocket money would have run Windows and Mimic. Your message does not say how much you paid for the PC, but for the cost of all that tin a PCI card with the circuitry would have run 95 at about twice the speed and saved some bench space. As for Mimic it is high time there was a Mac version, maybe someone should buy it.
They did apparently make a formal announcement. I can't say I blame them either ... the Mac user base is so small it's just not worth it from a financial standpoint. However, they DID originally say they were going to make a Mac version, so that really is pretty crummy of them. They should have stated from the beggining that it was highly unlikely a Mac version would be created.
Well to all these answers, I want to be able to use Mimic on the PC, Virtual Pc is too slow for anything. I creat the pose on the PC, now I want to be able to use it on the Mac, (Which I would not stade anything for it) The problem it has is the loation of the actual sound file, I have macConvertor which will indeed make the file usable on the Mac, But the PC file places a line in the file such as(d:my computer:/Program Files:/meatCreations:Poser;?runtime:/Mimic) this is where I seem to be having problems. I also soke with lipSinc a while back and they told me that they will not be making a Mac version. Now back to second part of the first part. the PC i have I only paid $500.00 or so for but, it says 700 mhz. amybe they should tell us where the hell they got the number, cause A MAC running at 550 mhz, is much more FASTER@ @ @ @ @ @ @

You're comparing apples to oranges there my friend. Not to mention you only have 196MB in the PC, and god-knows what kind of components for $500. Totally unfair comparison. Take the money you paid for the overpriced G4 and see what kind of exceptional speed and quality you get from a Micron, Alienware, Falcon, or Dell machine. You would be amazed. Oh and then wait until you want to add components, upgrade the motherboard or make other modifications to your little G4 in a year or two. Good luck ... the PC user will be passing you by in both price and perfomance. Add in the fact there is a LOT of great software unavailable for the Mac and it's amazing to me anyone buys a Mac. I guess the misnomer/myth lives on. Anyway, my point is if you would have just gotten a decent PC to begin with, you would have saved yourself some money and the headache of trying to figure out how to use Mimic files from the PC on a Mac.
You can still use the Mimic file even if the sound file isn't there. Poser will prompt you with a message that the saved sound file couldn't be found. Just click OK and the pose file will load. All you have to do is import the sound file again, but you would probably have to convert the sound file from wav to Mac format. Hope this helps some. Ed
