I did an image awhile back(see link), if that's it,.....it was made by Schurby and I got it out of Poser freestuff at 3D Commune (it's a Pontiac).

Thanks folks...3d comune Shurbys was it...

danamo ( ) posted Sun, 09 April 2006 at 3:26 AM

Somebody out there has a 1950 Studebaker (the ones with the bullet nose. I saw one in a render here. If I can't find one I might have to model my own. I'll have to go to the near-by swap meet and see if I can take some reference pics of antique and classic cars.

kiwi_gg ( ) posted Sun, 09 April 2006 at 4:00 AM

Try Helmut Schaub. You will have to google it though because I lost the URL.

WHO said Kiwi's can't Fly ?????

ellocolobo ( ) posted Sun, 09 April 2006 at 11:38 AM

Danamo>That car is also by Shurby and it is in the Poser section at 3dcommune.

Thank's for the suggestion Kiwi_gg. I believe I've seen some of Helmut Schaub's excellent models at planit3d. Thank's for the heads-up and confirmation on that Ellocolobo! Shurby does some fine work, and there are very few classic cars available on the net.๐Ÿ˜„

Ooops, cross-post, sorry Erlik! Thanks for that.

I've got a 57 Chevy by Dudley, and the readme allows distribution. Only problem is you'll need Poser.

Erlik ( ) posted Sun, 09 April 2006 at 2:09 PM

Nope, not the one I have. It says "Users may not distribute these files in modified or unmodified form outside their organization or location without written permission from Viewpoint DataLabs, Inc." Viewpoint Datalabs were the authors of the original mesh and the free distribution in the readme apparently refers to Dudley's distribution. OTOH, the props for the chevy are freely distributable. and then, maybe we could ask ScottA about the further distribution of the chevy, cause it's not here in Free Stuff anymore and Dudley's site disappeared.

Thank you Dadt! Actually, I can import it no problem into Carrara5 which has Poser "native" import. I also have Poser4 but it doesn't get as much use now. I suppose I might be able to bring it into Bryce through DAZ studio too.

This is the readme with mine A 1957 Chevy for Poser4 from Dudley's Auto Emporium, Classic Cars for Poser 4. Credits: Who ever the original modeler is that constructed the original body that was used as a base for the construction of this model. Not having to start from scratch was great. The original model has been available at virtually every free 3d mesh site around for a very long period of time. The version I started with was a 3d Studio (.3ds) from 3dCafe.com. Special Thanks: TJ Miller jr., penguinisto@earthlink.net for sponsoring this site. http://205.122.23.229/Dudley/ Renderosity.com forum users for their help and support in helping making this available. What's included: Detailed body, engine, trunk and interior. Characters: 1957 Chevrolet Convertible MAT Poses: Exterior: Matador Red, Tropical Turquoise, Onyx Black & Imperial Ivory. Interior: Ivory/Silver, Ivory/Turquise, Red/Silver & Silver/Black. Wide Whitewalls or Thin Whitewalls. You can mix and match as you like. Morphs: Left Front Wheel: Turn LeftWheel Right Front Wheel: Turn RightWheel DoorL: Open LeftDoor DoorR: Open RightDoor Hood: Open Hood Trunk: Open Trunk License agreement: You are free to use this model and any included files in any form of images and renders for commercial or personal use. You are free to distribute this file to whomever you wish free of charge. No item within this file is to be sold in whole or in part in any way. If distributing or posting to any site other than the original site the original contents of this file must remain complete, including this readme. Donald Sielke (aka Dudley) Duddly01@hotmail.com

The 3DS mesh is still available from 3D Cafe.

danamo ( ) posted Sun, 09 April 2006 at 2:39 PM

Very cool, thanks for that information Dadt. I wonder if this model could be based on the original Viewpoint Datalabs '57 Chev which was also a convertible? I think it's still available as a .dxf download from Avalon models public archive. It is great that Dudley made those terrific morphs to go with it. It would make it very easy to use it in an animation too.๐Ÿ˜„

danamo ( ) posted Sun, 09 April 2006 at 2:50 PM

Sorry Erlik, I missed your post previously while responding to this thread.๐Ÿ˜Š I came to the same conclusion. I hope it is legal to share this "Poserized" file 'cause I'd dearly love to have it. Maybe I should consult with AS on this because it seems like it's in a sort of grey area as far as fair use.

dadt ( ) posted Sun, 09 April 2006 at 3:03 PM

If anyone can sort it out I can make it available.

ellocolobo ( ) posted Sun, 09 April 2006 at 7:51 PM

Yall, you want cars, planes, animals, trains and anything else, please go to this site...http://archidom.net/ddd/mod_drive.htm

danamo ( ) posted Sun, 09 April 2006 at 10:57 PM

Wow! There are a ton of very good models there, but I have some reservations about downloading them. No offense to the Russian people, but the former Soviet Republics are rife with software and media piracy. Some of these look like they could be from De Espona and other commercial sites. The makers of World Builder (mostly Russian programmers) admit that they could not make a profit in their homeland because you can buy a CD-Rom with cracked versions of virtually any of the major 3D softwares on almost any street corner for less than $5 U.S. I would hate to get "busted" for using an illegally obtained model in a pic, or an animation.

Mine is dated 28 03 2002 so I guess there were copyright problems between those dates. I would check back in the forum but my browser just times out because of the slow speed of the forums at present.
