Subject: Changing searches to be by date and not Relevancy

byAnton ( ) posted Tue, 11 April 2006 at 10:01 PM · edited Mon, 06 January 2025 at 2:45 AM

I am sorry but this relevancy thing is making me want to scream. I can see people slanting searches by keywording their posts.

I did a search trying to find a post I made and wasn't able to find it. Stuff from 2005 was listed before many of the 2006 returns. grrr

Is there anyway to just get a search by date like the old searches were?

I agree. I hate that relevancy too.  I'm finding things at the top of my search from 2001 and earlier...times when I wasn't even here. I'm interested in finding posts that  I remember from the time I was here, not wading though stuff that predates me,  lol

I search for threads that I remember having read that I recall being helpful. It's hard to find those now.  Search by user name is helping a little with that, as is having the thread title showing.

However, the relevancy mixing up the chronological dates, and the extremely limited date search IE: within 45 days, and older than XXX days/months/years, isn't helping.

I don't see why they can't have a "newer than XXX days/months/years too.  That might even help narrow things down.

By the way Anton,  you should have a link to a page showing a list of all of your creations.  I'm amazed at how many great things that we see everyday were made by you and you don't get credit for them as they no longer carry your name.

Attached Link: old stuff >search Anton

Oh Linda that stuff is so old. Even the V3 stuff is around 3 years old now. Here is a link if you need it. Some still have names I think. Good people don't need to be convinced to do the right thing. :)

Wow! I hadn't realized that it was so much!!!!   They may be "old", but they are still popular and well used.

Any chance of you doing similar lights like  the complex global 2 lights presets, for poser 6?  Those were my favourite lights but they don't preview well in Poser 6 :(  I really miss them.

Lights. I never thought about it. Not sure if that is something I would do again. Something to think about at the very least.

Anton, there are a few things on that list that is credited other creators. Like the Antonio Hair. That one caught my eye because I love your hair and I didn't know that. And then it says by Vairesh...

So is Daz' search function faulty or did you actually make something of that hair? 😄

I'm even more annoyed that the posts are now sorted by reply date than by creation date. It's bad enough that read messages don't change color, but now it's too much trouble to even find all the new messages because of all the older messages getting mixed in.

Was this forum broken enough that all these changes had to be made?

I've posted a new thread in the community forum to address the issue, but I'm really getting tied of changes being made for the sake of changing things when this was a pretty good forum before the changes.

ernyoka, I think the 2 items made it in ebcause they have "Anton" in the name or text. The search function is pretty literal. Teh ANtonio hair and Jewels of Egypt shouldn't be in there really. Teh other 72 items are mine. :)

Karen,

SO is there a way to chaneg the way the search works?
