Subject: Cut, copy & paste not working in forums?

cliff-dweller ( ) posted Fri, 14 April 2006 at 5:35 AM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 8:17 PM

😕 My apologies if this has already been asked before, but it doesn't appear that the Cut, Copy & Paste functions work when I try to compose a forum post...

has anyone else had this trouble??

Also, can someone please tell me what "Source" means (upper left-hand corner of message composing box)  😊

Thanks!

I had the same problem. I use word pad then cut and paist. It worked only days ago. It keeps asking for the use of Ctrl = V or Ctrl + C bla bla bla...

This doesn't help with the smiley codes. l hope this is temporary.  O_o

The Cut, Copy, and Paste functions, work OK for me. To copy the emoticon code you select the text under the emoticon and paste that into your message, not the emoticon icon itself. Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V ate the standard Windows "Cut" and "Paste" keyboard combinations, eg hold down the "Control" key and whilst keeping it depressed press the "C" key.

The keybord shortcuts still work, but not right click "copy and paste".

In IE there is an extra popup window for copy and paste when you right click, but it doesn´t work in FireFox.

Oh nuts. I'm using FireFox to.  Right click copy and paist was working a some days ago on it though. I'm hoping it's a temporary condition.  :(

The 'Source' button shows the HTML source of the message you've been typing.

It's especially useful for coders. Switch to Source view, make a

block and paste in the code from their programming editor. For everyday use the standard word processor view is just fine.

The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter

Thank you everyone! I hadn't thought of using the keyboard shortcuts...I was trying to use right click and (doh!) the cut, copy & paste keys provided in the message composition box . Silly me!   :woot:

And thank you for explaining what the "Source" button means, too. Very helpful to know.

Happy weekend to everyone!
