Well, closer than some. Rural area in Tennesee near Chattanooga.

[Have they ever actually been here?]

Probably not.

I think the author was just trying to find a word to rhyme with "Apples"

My Mother lives in Bloomington.I've been to Indy several times and I can say that is does in fact rain in Indianapolis in the summertime.

Actually the song is saying if that's not loving him (what his wife does for him), then the following untrue statements are true- God didn't make apples, It don't rain in Indy, etc.

BTW, my latest avatar is a photo of Bryster.

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

I thought I'd never say this but Frankly I'm with Frank.... and tjohn

Sinatra sang:

"And if that's not lovin' me, then all I've got to say.
God didn't make little green apples
And it don't rain in Indianapolis in the summertime. "
.... I defended Sinatara - will I ever live it down - I feel so dirty.

Meanwhile here in Fresno (second target of the generational mass exodus of the rich from L.A. - Phoenix was the first ) it's been raining for weeks - not real rain like the monsoons in Phoenix but just enough to get your windshield dirty.
