Subject: Hello to all!

Hi!

My name is Giorgio, from Italy, and I am a newcomer of this forum and a total Poser newbie (yes, so expect a lot of silly questions!

I am a writer of amatorial science-fiction novels, and my main purpose with Poser is being able to draw pictures of my main female character (an Hawaiian girl). I plan to use Daz' Victoria 3 as a base, but I am trying to find a suitable face for her. No problem in buying a pre-made character and then to adapt it, but I am uncertain about which one would be the best for me. Yes, I am REALLY a newbie!

Bye for now and ciao!

Giorgio

Thanks to all for the great welcome!

Esther: thank you a lot for the link: it seems a great start point. However, the readme file says that the product (morphs for body and face) is for Victoria 2, not 3. So, ladies and gentlemen, here there comes another Newbie Question (applauses):  is there a backward compatibility between V2 and V3? Would it be an useful purchase (even with some adjustments) or a waste of money?

Thanks in advance,

Giorgio

not a waste:;) VICTORIA 3.0 FIGURE FILES

  • VICTORIA 3.0 FIGURE FILES- V3 CR2 and OBJ
  • V3 to V2 Cr2 and OBJ - Backwards Compatibility for use with V1/V2: - Poses

V3 Blank CR2
(identical to V3 CR2, but without morph channels for injection

(i know maybe shouldnt  ,but i did, so u see v3 comes w all this:)

grylin ( ) posted Tue, 18 April 2006 at 6:20 AM

ahaa. the product  link from esther, is v2:D  (i just had to sneak peek at it) lol so v2 would also b a great buy:)

estherau ( ) posted Tue, 18 April 2006 at 6:36 AM

well when I bought V3 in the days when she wasn't free, I got a V3 head on V2 body with it. so I didn't have to buy V2. No body morphs in the V2 though. Love esther

Cool, it seems that now I know where to start!

Can I shoot two more questions while you are not yet angry at me for being too much noisy?  😉

  1. Can I use V3 Ultra Catsuit on morphed bodies, or does it conform only to "standard" Victoria? I have seen a lot of interesting body variations but I would like to adapt the suit to them  (My goal is to create a superhero picture)

  2. Speaking of superheroes, my character wears a full-face mask. In my novels, it is absolutely equal to the Spiderman mask (so nose and mouth do not appear too much), but with exposed eyes. DAZ mask has a different structure and the free Spidey masks at Animations do not have holes for the eyes. Do you know how could I solve this problem?

Thanks to all and I promise no more questions for... well, ten minutes at least!  :blushing:

there's a product in the MP called 2ndskin and there is also one called masker, and you can use these to make your own custom masks. The daz cat suit morphs beautifully to your character, but making a super hero costume out of it is not as easy as one would think as the daz texture mapping is a funny cylindrical thingy. there are free seam guides here in freestuff from snowsultan that can help with it though. Love esther

Indoda, it's GREAT!

Do you know what? I had searched the Marketplace for "Hawaii", thinking that it would be sufficient, and I had found nothing. These two products instead only appear if I search for "Hawaiian"... seems that the Renderosity search engine does not know about "like" keyword or jolly characters... well, at least I have found two wonderful start points. Now I'll think about her super-suit....

by the way, in the mp, theres a suit  for most characters called the bootie i think or booty.lol im not sure:P but it has alot of morphs to it for a superheroine outfit etc.):)

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Tue, 18 April 2006 at 10:34 AM

Oh yes, the Bootie is a GREAT thing to get! Not only for super hero stuff but for a LOT of other things! It's what the catsuit SHOULD have been, really.

There's a spiderman mask out there, and I believe Khrys recently made a NoEars/NoNose morph for V3. Then a mask is just a question of textures.

Masker is another type of thing as far as I'm aware. More for adding make up or black eyes. But of course a super hero can need that as well LOL!

Oh and welcome to Renderosity! 😄

Thanks to you too, ernyoka1. So basically you are saying that I should "make a copy" of an head, flatten ears and nose, remove eyes and apply a texture on this copy. Sounds good... At this point I don't have the slightest idea about where to start, but I suppose I should search for a tutorial....

You might want to try  "Kiana", from DAZ.
It's for V3 (only). The textures can be converted to work for V2 if you have the "Universal Texture Converter" (also from DAZ), but the morphs can't be converted (unless there's a package I don't know about - UMC???)

The following is the start of the read-me for the product. It should contain enough to get you started on the trail..

Thank you for purchasing Kiana for DAZ's Victoria 3 by Morris to be used with Poser 4.03 or later

(September, 2003)

morris.jennifer@attbi.com

Kiana was created from my own personal collection of Hi-Quality digital photos, to create a truly photo realistic beauty!

You MUST own Victoria 3 Base and both the head and body morph packages to properly use this package. These items can be purchased through DAZ3d.com

Cheers,
Diolma

PS. I have NO FINANCIAL connection with either DAZ or Morris. (dammit!).

pleonastic ( ) posted Wed, 19 April 2006 at 5:11 PM

i can't find kiana at DAZ, and some digging via google reveals that she is no longer available at renderosity either.

Italy has a long tradition of comics superheroes, mostly published by Bonelli. I have created my character for a series of short novels (only text, not graphic), and I even have a small site for them. But they are in Italian language so I doubt someone here will read them.

BTW, she's a girl, so maybe she'll get the guy, but the story is still in progress... 😉

Anyway, I would like to thank all the people here for the welcome and the suggestions. I didn't know the 3D graphic community but I must say I am surprised for the friendship and the kindness you have showed to me. I hope to repay you with some good renders, but you'll have to wait a bit!

:sad:pleonastic, you're right. Kiana no longer available.

That is a shame, 'cos I really like the texture and use it often.
OTOH, I can now continue using it and know that any pics I produce using it won't be endlessly imitated:biggrin:

As and when I produce my 1st showable pic, that is... Don't hold your breath.

Cheers,
Diolma
