Sorry I'm running a little late on compiling all of these. I hope I didnt miss anyone's entry. Entries are below in no specific order. To make this easier to tally up. Everyone give 1 vote and only one vote. And please vote for you favorite image at the end of this thread, DO NOT start a new thread please. Thanks Ken

hard call to make, but .. I have to go with Jade_NYC. Couple of small things in there that need work, but the impact & feel is very "there". :)

The doctor says I have way too much blood in my caffeine system.

thgeisel ( ) posted Wed, 04 April 2001 at 2:36 PM

Hmm, very hard to decide.my favorite is pic nr 7 by rath. the idea with the churchwindow is great!!

Tempest ( ) posted Wed, 04 April 2001 at 3:18 PM

A very touch choice, but Im going to have to go with Jade_nyc. All of the images are great of course, but Jade_nyc's really stands out to me. -Tempest-

Flickerstreak ( ) posted Wed, 04 April 2001 at 3:42 PM

I've gotta vote for Februus's, #2. Got a really great "post nuclear blast" feel to it.

Skygirl ( ) posted Wed, 04 April 2001 at 4:32 PM

My vote goes to ppowellaa...lots of emotion in that one...

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Wed, 04 April 2001 at 7:35 PM

Tough call as well but I will say februus

februus ( ) posted Wed, 04 April 2001 at 7:45 PM

NightRaven-great job!

jade_nyc ( ) posted Wed, 04 April 2001 at 8:11 PM

I'm with skygirl - ppowellaa's pic really evoked a lot of emotion in me. Everybody did a great job - this one was even tougher than the underwater one. Jade

Although the other images contain some wonderful detail, I too think that Rath has the moral contrast of war depicted wonderfully.

ringbearer ( ) posted Thu, 05 April 2001 at 1:21 AM

My vote is for jade_nyc.

There are a lot of things worse than dying, being afraid all the time would be one.

Rath has my vote--though I certainly agree with everyone that it was a hard choice to make! Wow, what great entries!

fredramsey ( ) posted Thu, 05 April 2001 at 9:18 AM

februs, but all are great.

Phantast ( ) posted Thu, 05 April 2001 at 10:02 AM

But really! City scene 1900-1950?? And all anyone can think of is war and destruction? Since when do aerial combat pictures constitute a "city scene"? Or a few shattered buildings in a muddy landscape, for that matter? I think februus wins by default for having the only picture that looks remotely like a city scene, even if it is in ruins, but really, what a gloomy lot. Perhaps if the theme was WW2 battles, all the entries would be happy families listening to the radio :)

Inkwolf ( ) posted Thu, 05 April 2001 at 10:52 AM

But part of the challenge was to make a city scene showing a city ravaged by war...it just doesn't say so in this particular chain.

ajtooley ( ) posted Thu, 05 April 2001 at 4:17 PM

All were good, but I cast my lot with Februus.

Rath ( ) posted Thu, 05 April 2001 at 5:09 PM

in reply to the 'complaint' I have to say that the challenge was a little bit more complicated then 'just' a city-scene, whether in ruins or not. Also it should show the emotions of a war like victory, exctasy, en despair. The idea of a cityscene situated in the early part of the last century was just the basic backdrop for the emotional idea. Try to remember that when you judge and/or vote ;-)

RG ( ) posted Thu, 05 April 2001 at 7:20 PM

My two favorites are ppowellaa and Rath. For me, they both captured emotion: ppowellaa's the hidden victims of war and Rath's the resurection after the violence. Hard to choose but I vote for Rath.

Niteraven ( ) posted Thu, 05 April 2001 at 8:13 PM

I have no choice but to vote for Rath too, all were very good, but that is a very thought invoking picture. Well done! I believe this challenge goes to Rath..... so whats our next challenge to be?

EricofSD ( ) posted Fri, 06 April 2001 at 2:53 AM

I noticed my pic only opened half way then reported done. Anyway, doesn't matter. There's a better pic. I vote for ppowella and the ghost children. Though Rath is a runner up in my humble opinion. I was working on a church window that I decided to simplify and got cut out on my pic when it was posted on this summary page. If you scroll back its there. Good job, Rath, you captured it well and got my second vote. As for the complaint, scroll back. Read what the challenge was about. There was room for dignity in there.

Phantast ( ) posted Fri, 06 April 2001 at 5:07 AM

Sorry, but it says 1900-1950, not 1914-1918/1939-1945 (for Europe) or 1917-1918/1941-1945 (for USA). This is not my idea of history!

tankred ( ) posted Fri, 06 April 2001 at 10:42 AM

I am going to have to go with NightRaven. Love the Japanese Zeros Tankred

jade_nyc ( ) posted Fri, 06 April 2001 at 1:00 PM

Phantast: On March 5 Apache2K the winner of last month's challenge chose: "Can you bring the feeling of suffering and emotion. So i pick A City Scene after a war. Timelimit 1900-1950" Ok? Jade

Rath ( ) posted Fri, 06 April 2001 at 6:07 PM

Thnx Jade ;-) hopefully we can leave this discussion now and focus on the challenge again; when will the voting stop, to see who is the winner?

jade_nyc ( ) posted Fri, 06 April 2001 at 6:28 PM

I think tomorrow would be good for the last day of voting and then the winner could announce the new challenge on the 8th.

KenS ( ) posted Sat, 07 April 2001 at 1:57 AM

Actually, I planned to tally them up and announce the winner Monday, that way everyone will have the entire weekend to vote.

Apache2k ( ) posted Sat, 07 April 2001 at 11:17 AM

If i can still vote, ill pick ppowellaa. I did love the idea of the children. I dint want to take part this time, cos is still cant get any emotions out of my works, i did like very much all the works.

jade_nyc ( ) posted Sat, 07 April 2001 at 12:30 PM

Sorry ken! Mon is fine too!

miden1138 ( ) posted Sun, 08 April 2001 at 12:14 AM

If I may post my humble opinion? Rath's image was the only one able to elicit an emotion from me. My vote goes to Rath!
