Subject: DAZ Studio and Carrara

Hi, all --

I was wondering if anyone has any experience moving models from DAZ Studio into Carrara as opposed to coming in via Poser.  DAZ seems to be a pretty powerful package, and it'd be hard to beat it for the price!

I see that DAZ Studio can save as pz3 files, so Carrara should be able to open them, right?

Any experience?

Thanks!

Dex

PS:  Anyone know how I can get Renderosity to change the icon in the listing to show when I've read a thread?

Hi Sfdex, I've got DAZ studio but have only launched it once. I'll give it a try. The Renderosity "read" icon thing doesn't seem to work just yet. What I do is use the option to Mark All Before XX:XX Read, a clunky fix but it works.

I use D|S not poser. Works just fine. D|S is very impressive in some ways. 1.3 just came out awhile ago. There is a script addon (in free archive) that writes 3 different poser files. Like fc2, pz2,hd2. No pz3 tho, I believe, unless something has changed. I does export obj, and bvh. It also imports the poser formats, obj and bvh. I actually like to pose in D|S (easier to do) then save that as a script then I have a base car file with the character in there via native I open that and use the pz2 to apply poses. If it says it can save pz3 maybe they updated the script. If I look at my 1.3 version my export and save as don't show this. It would be capable of it tho probably since poser formats all are under the hood in many places.

No need to think outside the box....
    Just make it invisible.

D|S cannot save pz3 files (yet) but, as ren_men said, it does export pose files, which can be applied to natively imported poser figures.

Thanks, everyone for responding.  I'm downloading Daz now.  If it doens't work for what I need, I guess I'll plunk down the 250 for Poser6....
