Ok, old thread gone bye bye. Can we keep this thread to Items we'd like to see added to the forum features in the future. The ones I recall from the previous thread:

User option to not display signatures.

Please!

pumecobann ( ) posted Wed, 19 April 2006 at 5:58 PM

Are you trying to tell me something, Peter?

That's gratitude for ya - I put up my signature 'cos I thought you might like a bit of TRANCE!

For that matter, the option to turn off Signatures and avatars would be useful for people with low bandwidth. It would allow those who like them to use and see them and those that don't the ability to be image free.

PJF ( ) posted Wed, 19 April 2006 at 6:07 PM

Avatars are already a user disable option.

Thanks!

StaceyG ( ) posted Wed, 19 April 2006 at 6:11 PM

I will pass it on to the programmers about the signatures cause to be quite honest I don't like the huge image signatures at all.  Really to me thats not what a signature should be used for. But thats just me and I feel sure there are lots of others who may feel the same way so I would like to see this as a user option as well.  If we can't do that for whatever reason then we are going to have to put some limits on the signatures as I had previously stated in another thread....

Thanks I wasn't aware of the avatar thing, mainly because it's not an issue for me, I like em' but I know enough people who don't so I brought it up.

StaceyG ( ) posted Wed, 19 April 2006 at 6:16 PM

Yeah the avatars don't bother me cause there is a size limit on them and they are being used correctly in my opinion, the signatures on the other hand I just don't know..

pumecobann ( ) posted Wed, 19 April 2006 at 6:20 PM

Stacey - is my signature OK?

If not, just say so and I'll remove it - no prob's 😉

one further yes vote from me on a checkbox for "disabling sigfile display" pum, your avatar is very beautiful IMVHO but your sigfile is too big

StaceyG ( ) posted Wed, 19 April 2006 at 6:27 PM

Sorry pum but I agree with Miss Nancy:(  It is a little "large"   I like the look a lot but its HUGE, LOL...

PJF ( ) posted Wed, 19 April 2006 at 6:30 PM

There is another benefit to disabling avatars besides lack of visual distraction (humbug! ;-)). With my CSS option (thanks!) I'm able to adjust the size of the avatar cell down. When used in conjunction with disabled avatars, this maximises the display area of the forum entry cell. I've found this quite helpful when viewing with lower screen resolutions. It's not that important (especially with the auto image display shrinking now active); just another small detail to make the personal forum experience more pleasant.

I agree about image sigs....text doesn't bother me...well, unless one is writing a novel..but the images are kind of a moot point if we have ava's imo.

The random appearance of signatures can really disrupt the visual "flow" of the forum page, for me anyway. Pictures, marquees, animations and blocks of coloured text break up the visual distinction of the posts, somewhat akin to disruptive pattern camouflage breaking up the outline of objects. I find it really aggravating, but since I don't want my preferences to stomp all over other people's enjoyment, I seek the user option to display or not.

pumecobann ( ) posted Wed, 19 April 2006 at 6:46 PM

LOL - yeah I'm sorry 'bout that  :tongue1:

To be honest, I didn't think it'd look 'that' huge - but indeed, it does.

I've started doing my banners larger recently, simply because of the increased screen resolutions available to folk these days.  On R'ositys design though, it does look big - I'll remove it and design a smaller one.

Good news guys!!! The signatures are now fixed to be a user option under the "My Options" list.. So you can control whether you want to see them or not!!!

Go Nicholas!! He is my hero today:)

pumecobann ( ) posted Thu, 20 April 2006 at 1:26 PM

Stacey, if I do my new banner the same size as the MarketPlace banners - would that be ok?

Just thought I'd ask before I started on them - because I want to make quite a few different versions.

Hey pumeco, THAT'S NOT FAIR! I just searched your gallery to see if I could find an image that showed the rest of the young lady in your avatar but... You have no gallery! How am I supposed to see her in her full glory? Maybe I need to start a thread suggesting larger avatars.

Hmmm as for the wishlist lets see, I'd like to see easier, more user friendly controls for changing colors on the style sheets, not everyone knows how to even begin to code css.

A redesign of the right hand margin and site "style".

(Besides isn't it time for rosity to hold another contest too revamp the logo etc Like the last time?)

I'd like to see slightly larger avatars allowed. 130x130 50k maximum would be nice.

Now I shall wish in one hand and well you can figure out the rest, and see witich one fills up first.
