Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
I would REALLY advise you to upgrade to Poser6 because it addresses most of the problems you are talking about :) 1) crosstalk is fixed in Poser6 so you can have different characters in the same scene having different morphs. 2) Poser 6 has attachable library that you can move all the way around and make it show several rows of items at the same time, and not juts one to scroll through. Also, unlike Poser 4 (and Poser Artist, I guess), Poser 6 allows to create folders within folders within folders :) e.g. having the following hierarchy: - V3 figures: -- V3 clothes: --- clothing items 1 --- clothing items 2 --- V3 hair figures --- V3 temples and swords --- other V3 stuff - A3 figures: -- A3 clothes: -- ... etc etc so you do not have endless rows of similar folders 3) I have no idea about this one but my guess is that it was addressed too, though I cannot guarantee that. Upgrade from Poser Artist to Poser 6 is $149.99 - pretty much worth it ^_^ hope this helps :) kitty5

Tanker, some answers...
1. This is known as "Crosstalk". You can get around it by using a "Null Figure", which are available from various places. DAZ has a tech section which discusses the issue and provides a link to a Null Figure.
2. Poser 4 and earlier have a limit of 256 folders in any library. Any folders above this number will not be displayed. You can move Pose folders to other places, such as Faces, Hands and Cameras but you will need to modify the file extension. A better solution is to buy PBOOOST from the Marketplace here. It allows you to create banks of libraries which can be organized to your preference and switched in and out as necessary.
3. No, not really. Poser is rather inefficient.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
Thank you all for the helpful advice. :)
I think I will eventually upgrade to P6, but I also noticed that the PBOOST Library Manager is very highly rated in the Marketplace, and they also offer a utility which supposedly remedies the crosstalk issue as well. Will have to look into those. But this reassures me that it isnt me or a bugged install, but actual known issues with remedies.
thanks! :)

Hi there, I'm a long time Poser owner who has never really been able to get real familiar with the particulars of the software. Recently, been trying to explore / become more knowledgeable, but have run into some roadblocks. I am using Poser Artist (after a long time with Poser 3).
If anyone knows the answers to these questions, or could direct me to a good FAQ / General Issues guide, I would be very grateful.
1) When using a new model (Aiko3) and applying a full body morph (pose Inj for a character), then I load another Aiko 3 into the scene, the figure I have just loaded in mimics the same morph as the first Aiko 3. Dials are all set to 0, and adjusting them (on the body selection) has no effect. However, adjusting the dials on the original model modifies both figures. Is this a known issue? Or am I doing something wrong? It makes it near impossible to have two Aiko (or any other MM model) loaded with two different char morphs applied. So I can do clones, but not different characters. Is this a cross talk problem, software version issue? (have the latest patches applied).
3) Last one! :) I have a machine with 2 gigs ram, a good processor, Nvidia card, etc. (Alienware uber game machine from a year ago) However, I get two of the high end figures with conforming outfits on the screen at one time, and the system starts to really lag. I have read that Poser gobbles up memory, but is there some sort of adjustment or patch to let Poser take advantage of the system's resources and perform better?
Any and all help is truly appreciated. Thanks! :)
