THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: OT What if I want to mark one thread as read???

Vile ( ) posted Sun, 14 May 2006 at 4:21 PM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 8:53 PM

Am I just not seeing it? I am sick of rereading threads I have already read but don't want to mark them all read dig?

Nope. You're screwed, just like all of us. 👎

That blows...

You can use the options above the subjects ([top of forum] [mark all read] [mark all before 5:35pm read] [new thread] [archive] [subscribe to forum])...

Just remember which ones you read before the time given......hope it helps.

a.forum_threadname_link:visited, a.forum_threadname_link:active { font-size:12px; color:#FF0000; }

Add the above to your stylesheet and the read titles will be printed in red.

Ok to sound like a n00b here but where is the stylesheet?

diolma ( ) posted Mon, 15 May 2006 at 1:40 PM

You can find your style-sheet by hitting "[my options]", which is very near the top of the page, it's the 2nd entry from the right.

Your style sheet is the 1st big white box you come to (titled "My Styles")...

Cool, is there a link here to other helpful codes we can put in our style sheets? I'm liking what I see so far, but I'm not quite sure why some are still black even thou I marked them off as read. Maybe somebody added something and I never read it? Anyhow, its a step in the right direction !
            Thanks!

edit: I'm wondering now if there's a way to change it in the style sheet so that the "notify me when someone replies" box is unchecked? I mean I had to uncheck it before the change so I've been good so far at remembering to uncheck it, but it would be easier to not have to if this was a personal option.

"I'm wondering now if there's a way to change it in the style sheet so that the "notify me when someone replies" box is unchecked?"

Alas, AFAIK, no. I, too would like this option.
When the new-look forums opened, the default was "don't notify me". But for some reason (probably user-pressure), it rather quickly got reverted back to the original "Notify me unless I remember to click".
Alas, it's not something that can be changed via a style sheet (unless I've missed something, somewhere - not impossible, by any means).

I've been pestering for this option myself, but I suspect it's low on the list of priorities...

"I'm not quite sure why some are still black even thou I marked them off as read".

The style-sheet addition just indicates that you have actually opened (IE, clicked on) that thread. Hitting "Mark all read" will have no effect on that. Also, I think, the colour-change will revert after a certain time has elapsed - more to do with Browser "history" settings than anything else, I think... - but I'm probably wrong, I usually am if I post (if I don't post I'm usually right...)

Cheers,
Diolma

That is just a workaround, as the links will lose their red colour after a while.
